the boy in red.

you probably saw me first.

clad in red, i didn’t.

i was friendly, i played nice.

friendly, isn’t ‘i like you’.

nice, isn’t ‘i know you like me too’.

i thought you would just pass me by.

didn’t think touching your hand was part of the trick.

didn’t think hugging pulled me closer to the trap.

until i forced your show of cards.

saw ‘i love you’ scrawled on every one.

i saw the future first.

covered with hearts, you didn’t.

so i left early, avoided the sorry.

no goodbye, i didn’t want to see you cry.

to end this madness, i turned my head.

smiled at another, hugged her.

you probably cried first.

me clad in guilt, tried not to.
