Ariel looked down at her stained hands, horrified by the very tools she used to bludgeon a sinful mortal.

Shakily, I hold the poison.

I want my wings, the feathery ones or that jewel-studded gossamer pair.

Finding courage, I float from Heaven to kill evil and save someone’s captive little girl.

Many angels in the past assumed they had to kill someone in order to get their wings. What they failed to realize, was the true meaning behind those words and it led them to a life in purgatory. I earned mine through sacrifice when humanity faced extermination from the demons.

My wings unfurl.

I would pray for forgiveness but I am now the guardian angel that is prayed to.

No need to fear when you kill for the lord.

The angels aren’t always the good guys.
