Old Year Out/New Year In

sliding toward the place

where December’s chill

meets the nip of January

in the circle where

goals lead to actions

possibilities take root

probabilities bloom

and dreams build castles ~

beautiful creations

germinated in last year’s soil

ripen into delicate bits

of the soul who seeks self ~

renewing realization that

moments build moments

time generates opportunities

and old creates new

within me

old year out, new year in

The old year falls away like crimson leaves

Abandoned memories, buried in the sheaves

Fueled by grief the bonfire’s high

With relief we wave goodbye

New sun climbs high over pyres smoke

With hope renewed this morning woke

We face the year with shining eyes

Tell ourselves more soothing lies.

Old Year Out/New Year In

Simple.

No more old ways

will be allowed to follow a path

with no future.

Not easy, but doable.

New roads to find and travel,

that lead to somewhere,

each going everywhere.

No more resolutions,

too easily forgotten.

Now is the time for facts,

as facts remain as such.

The old ways are history,

the new ways have possibilities;

it requires work,

hope, and luck.

… and prayer.

Old Year Out/New Year In

through the window

the tide of our room

so deceptively lulled

by the steadfast

rhythm of the moon

which is to say

the refrain of

a familiar tune

the cosmic

gravitational pull

of some super novea

out with the cold

exasperated news

in with our due

The changing of

the guard and

blurry eyed resolve

of 3 Sixty 5

and the fictional

flipping of

2,018 into 9

OLD YEAR OUT/NEW YEAR IN

***

The old year began

as defiance—

as the fury of a girl, caged,

who shattered gilded bars—

mindless of the shrapnel—

and made herself a ruin.

From the shards,

she pieced herself together

and when jagged edges

unwittingly drew blood,

she dipped a pen

and wrote herself anew.

Now, into the new year

strides a mosaic of a woman

who sees in her reflection

a person unknown

and revels in the prospect

of discovery.

Old Year Out/New Year In

Marking time's passage,

And in so doing, ourselves,

With the remembrance

Of successes and failures,

And the hopes of what may be.

Old Year Out/New Year In...

Old Year out and New Year in, is a blessing in itself.

To say this next year means I have lived another year.

With all the devastation and corruption of 2018, I am glad to say

I open my eyes to another year of hopefully see a change in attitudes.

Maybe seeing people realize that we are

slowly dying out and we need to appreciate the breath that God has

given us to continue. To love that someone loves you and they look forward to seeing you each and every day because tomorrow has a promise for no one.

Old Year Out/New Year In

When I was young

the days and years

were slow to pass.

There was always time

for everything.

There was always

tomorrow.

In the blink of an eye,

I was young no longer.

What I have done,

the life I have lived

is more

than the life I will live,

what I will do.

As the hour approaches

that will mark

the end of the old year,

I am thankful

to have climbed mountains

seen sunrises

listened to music

laughed loudly

cried and survived

loved.

Despite the swiftness

with which

time passes,

I am grateful

for the opportunity

to continue.

Old Year Out/New Year In

I can’t believe another year has gone by

and my love for you still won’t fly

it feels like it’s been a thousand years

yet still a thought of you moves me to tears

i told myself last year you would be gone

but my heart said “no, he will go on”

so here I sit, alone again

waiting for the fireworks

thinking of what could have been

Old Year Out/New Year In.

The trees, lights and ornaments are down and the calendar got changed this morning. A fresh beginning? Or will it just be another day, week or month as we march toward our next beginning. Either way is fine with me, as long as you are by my side.

Thank you @Danceinsilence
