we fall forward
gradually. I watch you from the
place where this all began, as we are dragged about,
graphed. you explain the concept of infinity
in midair, and I still do not understand,
how can we live our lives like this,
on the idea of forever, without ever
touching.
& I want so badly
to break out of these boundaries
& explore the universe. I want so badly
to know what it feels like
to live unpatterned, to move about without
function, to not know where
we are going next.
most of all I just want
to touch you, & only once.
you gaze at me from across the room
with an almost-smile and I want nothing more
than to run forward, into your arms.
but as soon as I look away
you are already gone.
