The little people.
You live in a fantasy world but you're not a noble, you're not a wielder of magic, unless everyone in your society has a little magical ability, you're just a grunt, a nobody, one of the general public... It could be a world already written such as Narnia or Middle Earth, maybe you're a Cherek goatherd or an Asturian serf from the Eddings Belgariad or a villager living in one of the huge tree villages of the Thomas Covenant books, but whatever world you choose and character you play, you're a little person, insignificant to the plot of the main book(s). The main plot of the book you chose might even sweep past you with barely a hint. Maybe you overhear some gossip or the town crier makes an announcement of significant events but even that's only likely to result in a shrug. Write about him/her.

The Little People

"Superman does it again! He's saved us all!"

"Can you turn that television off?" My mom yelled from upstairs.

"Why? I'm just watching footage of Superman taking out that huge freak off nature... ugh, what was his name... oh yah, Doomsday!" I yelled back. My mom was coming down the stairs walking straight to the kitchen.

"I said turn that off." She shot back.

"But why? I just want to know why!"

"Fine, you want to know why?"

"Yes!"

"It's because all those super powered freaks cause or promote is destruction."

"That's not true!"

"Yes, Tommy, it is. Do you how many buildings, cars, streets, and houses were destroyed that day?"

"A lot."

"Yes Tommy, a lot. So much, that we're still paying for the destruction caused."

"But it's not Superman's fault!"

"You're right, it's not. It's just the reality that we live in. Superman, thank the heavens, tries to minimize destruction from those who try to abuse their power. Superman is a good man, and he is my hero just as much as he is yours."

"Then how come you don't like him?"

"I don't like any of them. I don't like anyone with powers. It just gives them power over us, like we're insignifcant. It'd be better for people like us if those kinds of people never existed. Things would be easier."

"People like us? What do you mean?"

"The people who don't have a large role to play. The people who can't cause as much damage as someone else with heat vision. What we do doesn't cause much of a diffence, you know? We're just the..."

"Little people?"

"Yeah, exactly. We're just the little people."
