Love like a rose

I was working in my rose garden when I heard a faint voice say, "Thanks for the water and food."

"Who's there?" I exclaimed.

And the voice repeated, "Thanks for the water and food."

Even though I was 100 percent sure I was alone, I quickly turned around to scan my back yard for an intruder and, "Ouch!" I snagged my arm on a thorn drawing blood.

"We're sorry!" Said the same faint voice.

Unaware I was speaking aloud, I spoke back to the voice, "Huh? Who are you and why are you thanking me and saying you are sorry?"

"We are your roses. We know how much you love us, so we put all our roots and branches together and amassed the energy to speak your language. Sorry about the thorns. We wouldn't do anything to hurt you. Our thorns are just necessary to protect us from animal predators."

I knelt before them, loving all of them, the pinks, the reds, the whites, the oranges and the yellows, and breathed in their sweet scent. It was I that was grateful for them, for their beauty and the lesson they taught. Like a rose, love is beautiful and sometimes painful.

Dreaming a Daydream

I sleep the sleep of white gentle clouds, pale blue sky, and eagles soaring across broad mountain peaks. I see myself standing atop the highest mountain, looking out onto a world yet untouched by human hands or their madness to tear down and recreate a mass of malls, homes and minons of people flocking about.

I sleep the sleep where fawns graze, a brook of silvery water flows, and trees rise to the heavens as if keeping the sky from falling, Birds flit from tree to tree, whistling, almost singing a gentle song.

I sleep the sleep where she comes to me, arms open wide, smiling, her eyes bright, alive and ernest and she dances before me without a care in the world other than pure happiness.

I sleep this sleep of perfection never found, and I never want to wake.

Two Loaves of Bread

I thought I ought to

win the lotto.

An old gent

a daydream sent

He sat at my table

and said you are able

with one provision -

ponder your decision.

One thing you must do,

it is up to you,

if the lotto you win,

the chance is thin,

but you must pursue

what I ask of you.

If you have two loaves

of bread in alcoves,

put one loaf of bread

on the table you spread

and put the other one

outside in the sun

for those who have none.

What I mean -

it remains to be seen -

is share your wealth

without malice or stealth.

And if you do this

you’ll always have bliss.

I was overtaken and awed

by the man who was God.

SUBLIME

I didn’t know how I got there. It might have been when I fell asleep. For some odd reason, I was not my regular height when I was there. Maybe, one of the fairies must have used magic to shrink me down to the same fairy size.

Anyway..oh, right~ the short-lived fairy adventure. Ahem. Where was I again? All right. (clears throat) I was amazed by the beauty of the fairy kingdom. It was enormous. There were so many fairies that flew over me. I loved every moment I had to spend there. The flowers towered over me. All the land/kingdom was full of bright dazzling flowers & trees. Some were even gold. When the sunlight hit the flower petals & tree leaves...the plants sparkled. And when it was time to fly- that was such a wonderful experience. I felt like I didn’t have a care in the world. The food was mouthwatering. It was a set arrangement placed in such an orderly manner near the outdoor picnic area. That was right by the water fountain. As a clear band of a rainbow formed in the sky, from the dispersion of light from the water fountain, the fairies and I dined.

I Dream the Dream

The sparse wind of weak breath exhales across the shoreline, as the breeze follows its path toward the unknown, leaping further into what lies ahead. The sky, a cornercopia of color streaked across the canvas, with each hue blending into another. Waves crash as they serenade all interested in listening; aiding in the pleasurable experience and encouraging a future return. As the clouds start to vanish, the light keeping this dream intact fades fast. Holding on remains an elusive challenge.

Dreaming of a Wildflower.

I close my eyes and as they open again I see a green lush meadow filled with wild flowers. On a sudden urge I lean down and pick one up. At once I'm filed with such a sweet fragnance that seems to enchant my whole being. All other flowers pale in comparison to the one I hold in my grasp. Such is its enthrall that it holds me captive even though its so tiny compared to me. Yet just with its smell it totally captivates me. Other thoughts escape my mind as I marvel at how something so delicate could hold so much power. Without a worry in the world I just lie down in that meadow. Only me and my wildflower and get lost in the pleasure of its scent.

In the Brevity of Your Life by JMEC

So much living in the brevity of your life.

All of it softly, uniquely yours.

One solitary chance to be noticed; to soar, seeing the world like a bird in silent flight,

catching on your tiny crystalized arms,

the faintest hints of moonlight and sunlight and starlight,

throwing them back down for all to see your art; creating your miniscule stamp on the landscape, becoming part of something collectively more beautiful

than what you, the individual, equisitely are.

Perhaps in doing so, you even realize you have purpose and that you bring joy, and that you communicate with and touch others.

Only once will you know the meandering descent in crisp air,

softly landing in the arms of kindered spirits to rest and meld.

Softly, golden-warm-glow draws you up, away, and home

to wait for your re-birth as something quite new.

As you mist into the atmosphere, the ground below you sighs gently,

as if to say she will miss you for now.

A Crown of Peonies

The fair elvin maiden, Viveka, relaxed on the riverbank as several of her fairy friends braided her long, golden hair. Her bare feet were submerged in the cool, clear water where the flow was gentle and the fish were free to swim at their own leisure. Frogs croaked and birds chirped. Viveka tilted her head back and peered up at the rays of sunlight breaking through the trees, then closed her eyes, reveling in the music of the forest.

A few familiar voices called out to her and she opened her eyes to see her other fairy friends approach, beckoning her to follow them. To where, she didn't know, but they kept insisting, so she followed them out of the forest and into the meadow.

There, her beloved Lars stood tall among the plethora of flowers, holding a crown of red, white, and pink peonies. Viveka gazed into his hazel eyes as he carefully placed it onto her head. She beamed up at him and caressed his smiling face before threading her fingers through his short brown hair. Lars held her close to his strong, broad chest and bestowed her lips with a sweet, tender kiss that left her breathless.

that dance

in our

when they

bleed out

to a

Dreams

A dolphin and her calf leapt from the water in front of me. I yelled out and catalogued them. We followed the mother and her calf a few miles as I pulled on my wetsuit. When I finished, I lept in the water. The mother and baby swam a bit more, when they were joined by the rest of their pod. An older calf spit bubbles that she swam through, then she spit one for me, and I swam through it. We played like this for an hour, until my air ran out. I swam to the surface and pulled myself onto the boat. It was another day in my dream job.

I jolted awake.

"And then the calf is born. This is the most vulnerable time of their lives. They are very vulnerable to attacks."

I was in class. I just hoped I could pass finals, and become a Marine Biologist, just like my dearest dreams.
