Illusions

I am imagination

     blazing flashes of imaged light

     soul caught on fire

     silence in hush of day

     discreet gentle feet

I am imagination

     framing your love

     reaching for our yesterdays

     closed eyes seeking hope

     past unfolding into butterflies

I am imagination

     upside down reality

     daisies of your smile

     flight through winged sky

     garments of pink sand

I am imagination

     surreal dreams with no limits

     shadows of infinity clinging

drops of clear water on tongue

     holding hands of summer hues

I am imagination

      wild with infatuation

     throbbing with need

     tasting the sweetness

     guided by pale moon

But are you just my imagination?

Imagine

There are voices from those who do not belong, faces I've never seen and worlds that do not exist fill my head. Sometimes it is far too crowded and I need a place to spill it all out upon, perhaps a page or song. I can see the world as a playground or a place of gloom, only if I wish it to be. My imagination is what drives me, what makes me act the way I do.

When I was young my sister and I would play games, as if we were princesses or in tribes with "powers" belonging to the elements. Our playground was used as a spaceship and at grocery stores we were either spies or in the villain's lair.

Imagination, without it I would be boring, bland, nothing but a girl with an empty head. Without imagination our world would be gray and gloomy. Movies, books, plays, all that requires creativity would be gone. We wouldn't be alive, but dead.

I can imagine anything I want, and that is freeing, beautiful by itself.

Another World

Somewhere there is a world

Where the skies are yellow instead of blue

And the moon shines brighter than the sun.

The smiles remain on people's faces.

Every trace of hatred and guilt is gone.

Somewhere there is a world

Where the fish can fly

And the birds all crawl.

All hungry stomachs are filled.

There is no good bye.

Somewhere there is a world

That only we can visit.

We can close our eyes

And see the brightest light:

A portal to the most vivid.

Somewhere there is a world

Much better than the one we live in.

It is perfect.

A balance between the heart and brain

Create our unique imagination.

Imagining Answers

It has been traced and hounded

by the meticulous observer.

The Self,

seer of the primordial "what,"

knower of the nevermindliness of the Now,

lurking in and of the inquisitive mind

back into the Nothing

which, out of a familiarity

without any kind of assurance or requirement,

somehow seems to

necessarily and consistently

answer the call.

Me, the proverbial Who,

puts forth the resolution

and redaction of

the conceptual acceptance/allowance,

one must foremost place their will

to acknowledge and actively be,

in the probing of what,

if we can in fact wonder of a thing's existence,

arrived by means of searching, pondering,

conversing, dismissing and redefining

the relation and/or repulsion,

of life to death, or the inverse of which,

through deconstruction/synthesis

until it must, as a necessity, be:

INFINITE REGRESSION

IN FINITE EGGRESSION.

Enter Thought...

Imagination pulses. Deep desire spinning within fleshy thoughts. Look at the real-real; so lacking, so three-dimensional, so limited. Think. Just think - that is where the creating comes from - the lilted layers of folded matter, the slinking coils of human cognition, the enough and the more. Think and dream and want and need. Picture the best and the worst; therein lays experience. Glean lessons from both.

Take stories, take legends, take myth and doubt. Press them, keenly, among the fibers of being. Take the world's stories and see the wonder awaiting - how many verses does the human condition spill? All of them, resting just below the surface. Story waits for the thinking, the telling and the sharing.

And what do I share? What shred of consciousness dare I commit on the page? Which of these footprints might leave the strongest mark, the most upending question, the strongest tickle reminiscent of human nature?

I'll tell you what I think through my character's crackled lips. I'll show you how the world crumbles on the platform of fiction. I'll create an alternate reality just so the meat of the matter is clear. Just so truth doesn't hurt quite so bad. So that, for at least one moment, reality notices contradictions. For one second, the absurdity of the real-real shatters like the mirror it actually was -- a self-created delusion.
