I stare into the mirror,

and I see a little girl looking at me.

It's the eight-year-old me,

and she's staring right back.

She is grinning back at me, 

happy for what she sees.

She sees beauty, passion,

confidence, and strength.

She is in awe of the person

that she is to become, 

because for her it is 

impossible to think of me.

She is mesmerized by where 

she will one day end up,

and tears of joy fall down

her face when she realizes...

We became strong, independent,

confident, beautiful, and free

and she is looking forward to it.

"Wait? What? It can't be;

that beautiful woman is me?

I seem to be nice, have a kind heart,

and I'm involved in the arts?

I'm sure I've done alot of wrong,

but at least me and others get along.

And I finished college, the big school?

So then I'm not a fool...

And I've got three kids, too?

Wow, that seems pretty cool...

Hey, that's awesome, I get to write!

I even do it late at night?

So, I guess I like the me I become;

I'm just glad I don't turn into a bum."

Yes,

Yes she would

Be proud of me.

And I know this

For she lives inside of

Me.

I have never really changed,

Just learned to improve

Myself. 

And nothing can grow without

A foundation.

She is my foundation. 

My eight year old self

If she met me

Might not feel pride

But pity

It's been a life filled

Choices not great

Fear, denial

My true fate

Still, I've forever

Kept at my heart

That children

Play great part

Mistakes, I've made tons

Learned from them all

Best people

Those so small

Not complicated

Things when you're small

Magic exists

When you DON'T know it all
