Lonely Streets

Torturous heart resides

in unseen truths,

drinking rancid tears

of fallen grief.

Forlorn within

the dusky skies,

cascading painfully

down my face,

clasping dreams

in slippery grasp,

treading lonely streets.

I sigh through

my gritted teeth,

struggling to open

facets of love again.

My thoughts are

mere shadows

bearing courage,

reaching for sun

in the distance.

I close ageless gap

between us,

linger in darkness

of your hunger,

liberate my soul,

free to love

all over again.

Somewhere...

Somewhere

dead minds love, so

perfectly

embrace imprisoned; merely

being here.

forgot ( this sudden image cries)

plagued the bright orange glow

crowds the mornings crest below.

never stood to see myself, but

lost you in the words; the worlds.

who has not seen you

so; splendor?

dumb and dull, not

since i saw you last.

so truly forever, i might ask

what brought you forth? why

do you speak in soft warm hues?

long forgotten (as am

i) to exist

to perturb another soul.

Walking Shoes

Waiting...

The unknown.

This abyss, I'm looking.

I'm coming for you.

The distance, it's hard to breathe.

I'm trying to believe

That I need you. That I want you.

Keep going, they say.

Do they understand?

Maybe, but they're not me.

It's hard, so hard.

Impossible, really.

Yet I'm still here, trekking blind into a sea of thoughts.

Swamped, it's painfully hot.

It's sticky, the flies.

What pests!

Why is it so difficult?

Where are you?

I'm dizzy from these circles.

The guessing and the games.

I'm fighting for survival

When all I really want is your name.

Why are you hiding?

Are you hurting like me?

Draw yourself a map, we'll meet in the middle.

Hopefully...I'll see you soon.

Opening Night Jitters

Peeking out from behind the heavy red velveteen curtain, her stomach is beginning to churn and her mouth is going dry. The sight of all the audience seated in their noisy anticipation sends shivers down her spine. Letting the draping folds slip back into place, she wiped her sweaty palms on the tired towel that hung just to the right of her; there for that very purpose. "They would love it!" she pronounced. "But, what if they didn't?" she questioned. Many of her friends had come, by her invitation. "Oh! why had they come!?" She silently groaned, as she nervously wiped the sweat off her brow. Would they view her with familiarity or would they think her brilliant in her character? With only five minutes to spare and her heart pounding so dreadfully fast, she hurried back to her dressing room, wondering why she continued, every time, to put herself through this same experience. But, deep in her heart, she knew the answer. What a delicious, and gloriously defining moment it was when the last memorized word was uttered and the next second of silence ushered in the deafening, crashing applause. How undeniably sweet the terror of opening night; how torturously beautiful!

Woman

Heavenly kisses

The sight of a pair of angels’ wings

I see you and know not where to begin

You are perfection

Skin so pure

Put on this earth to tempt and allure

Lips that speak no malice or for it care

Hair silken falling so gently fair

Your face flawless like alabaster

No others will resemble you now or after

Sculptured body tall like an ivory tower

Opening its petals stretching like a flower

You are beauty

It shadowed only by your grace

Forever in my life

I pray I shall always see your face

Thief

Heat radiating

Skin aglow

Breath hot

Limbs extended

Just so

Beautiful sleeping sighs

Canine cuddling companion

A smile (I swear)

Swipes the blankets

From me
