Gold

A song that describes me is gold by owl city. If you have never heard owl city go google them right now, I'll wait... My favorite song by them is gold because it just makes me think of people discovering who they are meant to be and that is something I think I do a lot. I have many interests and I feel like I am meant to do something amazing in the world. This song really represents that. Also it's really catchy ( ;

This Masquerade

When I first heard this song, by 'The Carpenters' in 1973, written by Leon Russell, oh how I love his music, I knew it was for me.

I was only 13 years old. My life was focused on 'love' just like all girls my age. The first paragraph:

Are we really happy with
This lonely game we play
Looking for the right words to say
Searching but not finding
Understanding anyway
We're lost in this masquerade

I was always lost with 'boys', it was a masquerade. I could never find anything right to say, until I became 'me'. When I did that, then my 'best friends' were guys. Yet again, I was lonely, because, I kept relating to the game!!

Then HS happened. The song remained the same, the lyrics, never changed. When I heard it through HS, 'The Carpenters' weren't popular, but no one could tell me these lyrics from Leon Russell & sung many times by George Benson weren't. I would swoon hearing the haunting melody, and those lyrics!!

What were they telling me? Since the third and fourth paragraphs are so close, the second made me grow up quicker:

Both afraid to say we're just too far away
From being close together from the start
We tried to talk it over
But the words got in the way
We're lost inside this masquerade.

"WORDS GOT IN THE WAY!" That was my problem, I always tried to talk my way through relationships!

Okay, so I learned young in life, and didn't keep it up. If only I had...listened, because "my life became lost inside that masquerade"

I still listen now, but only with an understanding, it's a beautiful song, that I grew up on, with many tears, I try not to cry now, only sing, in the shower, with my pretend mic...but I'll never forget those beautiful words, Leon Russell..

Little Miss

"Little Miss" by Sugarland. When I first heard it, just after its release in November 2010, I was starting over after my divorce from my 2nd ex who was not a nice person and did some serious damage. While the entire song is me, the second verse resonates the most:

Little miss, do your best

Little miss, never rest

Little miss, be my guest, I'll make more anytime that it runs out

Little miss, you'll go far

Little miss, hide your scars

Little miss, who you are is so much more than you like to talk about

Despite all I've been through (and continue to deal with), I am still generous almost to a fault. I've held and continue to hold jobs and do volunteer work where I place all of my own troubles on the back burner to help others. I make others laugh and am a fantastic actress in public. When I'm alone, however, that's a completely different story.

I listen to this song frequently.

P.S.

New song that has special meaning for me: "She Used to Be Mine" by Sara Bareilles.

And "Human" by Christina Perri.

Hillbilly Stomp

After meeting Kid Rock and then leaving Las Vegas for the bush, I knew that I was home to stay.  I am proud to be a bush wacker, any day of the week. The glamour and glitz was not for me. It just took until I was almost forty to figure that out. I listen to it often.

Avalanche by BMTH

This song is the song that best describes me. I first heard it a couple years ago and just fell in love with it. It describes me best because the singer is talking about something that is wrong with him but he doesn't know what. He's trying to get someone to help him. In fact, my favorite line is "I need a cure for me, 'cause a square doesn't fit the circle." He's talking about one emotion that weighs him down. I can't go a day without listening to it.

Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend!

It was a late night. As the words passed by my eyes, this song, (album? not sure), entered my ears. The words and notes played off of each other like gunpowder off of metal- explosive. It was playing during a deadly war scene, basically trying to give you flashbacks without being there. Time passed with no meaning, my conscious being too preoccupied with the horrifically accurate description of war before my eyes. The song changed to fit the scene. And then it all stopped. Song end. Chapter end. The next one awaited.

Dirty Laundry by BitterSweet

I've always been a bad girl.

I've always had a thing for bad boys.

Trouble is my middle name!

That's why I get invited to all the really

Great parties, I make a mean Margarita!

This is a fun song and I have a very mischievous

Personality that's why it's at the top of my list.

I listen to it whenever it suites me.

“You Should Know Where I’m Coming From” (Banks)

[Verse 1:]

What if I said I would break your heart?

What if I said I have problems that made me mean?

What if I knew I would just rip your mind apart

Would you let me out?

Maybe you can stop before you start

Maybe you can see that I just may be too crazy to love

If I told you solitude fits me like a glove

Would you let me out?

[Chorus:]

You ought to know where I'm coming from

How I was alone when I burnt my home

And all of the pieces were torn and thrown

You should know where I'm coming from

[Verse 2:]

What if I said I was just too young?

What if I said I was built on bricks of carelessness and crumbs

What if I said I'd be gone before I could come

Would you let me out?

[Chorus]

[Bridge:]

Your soul outweighs my own, my own

But you turn me away from my low blows

Boy, you should've known

[Chorus x2]

Heard it first in 2014, I play it when I am busy doing anything.  It´s one of the most verbally perfect songs, a lot of it reminds me of my life.  I know if I was to start a relationship I would ruin it and hurt the person due to my past.  So this song fits me well.

Those Lyrics

A song that describes me... I'd have to say Sunspot Cycle by Rin and Len Kagamine. Why? Because I don't understand the lyrics, and therefore don't understand the ideas behind it. That describes me perfectly.
