Death Knell

Our earth is being raped

by sloppy thugs uncaring

ravaged landscapes sullied

trees collapsing like dominoes

in poisoned tears of grief.

Polluted grey waters

struggling for breath

bird songs silenced

death knell for creatures

honey bees extinct.

Slipshod humans

sacrifice our world.

Mother Earth

will close her doors

unless humans

open their eyes.

Where will you go?

Where will you go when you can no longer breathe

What will you do when there is no life in the sea

Who will you blame when there is nothing to drink

Tell me please what will the next generation think

Where will you go when there is nothing to live on

What will you do when all that was beautiful is gone

Who will you decide should have done more

Tell me please what are you waiting for?

Love it or leave it

The Earth is sacred.

I’m not so religious.

We must watch out for the animals.

The animals are all big and scary.

Keep the air clean.

We can still breathe.

All of this talk about

protecting an orbiting hunk of rock.

All kinds of feely reasons.

We forget the main reason.

It’s home.

It’s the only home

so far, at least.

This kind of homelessness

we can’t survive.

So whatever your beliefs,

keep it clean!

Keep it safe!

At least until you are ready

to move.
