One word can't sum up all the worries chattering away in my head.

One word can't convey all the fears digging their claws into my back.

One word can't show all the tears gathering under my eyes.

One word is how I answer supermarket checkouts,

one word is what I give to bus driver on the road,

one word is what I tell familiar faces as they pass me by in the street.

I thought you were different, I thought you cared, but No,

you still ask me to boil all my feelings down to one word

like you don't have the time to hear me out,

like you don't really care about the answer,

like it's just something to ask.

So i'll give you,

one word.

Skedaddle, Vamoose, Evacuate, Withdraw, Begone!

Right now I am worried about things. My life, my job, my age.

It's as if I'm stood at a precipice and it's a long way down.

Maybe it's just a mood, maybe it's just a passing thing, but right now I cannot see an escape route.

And I am worrying.
