Turn It Up
Quiet. It's the only thing I crave when I'm NOT writing. But when I'm at my keyboard, I need background noise. I've always been this way. Even as a kid, I used to do my homework in front of the television - it drove my parents crazy.
And it helps if the noise is choppy or frenetic (television shows, commercials, The View - ok, maybe not The View). Music doesn't do the trick. Right now, I'm writing by the side of the sea. It's almost a little too quiet, but I'll manage.
