Charlatan

You swore on every star

as you crept out

from under my skin

glared at me

as you wafted away

Take me with you

in traces of your mind.

You yanked

a part of me

tearing my inner soul

pieces floating into air

shoved me

into the dark

Take me with you

in traces of your mind

You swore

in pillows of air

drifting through our spaces

ripping

shadows into my sky

unsaid thoughts

Take me with you

in traces of your mind

Wrath of Jessica

‘’YOU swore on every star—

‘‘that you would always have my back!’’

‘‘Jessica...please..just listen to me-I....’’

She didn’t let him finish what he had to say.

His body trembled seeing her hair flowing like a flame~ o, how she burned so brightly (like the same stars he swore on!) when she was mad.

Eitan squeezed his eyes shut. He stood motionless ever ready to be scorched by his goddess’ eternal blazin’ flames.

Stars

You swore on every star that you’d give me the life I wanted

I thought you would, after all, we bonded.

But here I am with an empty lap

And nobody to care for but myself.

Every moment feels like a painful stab

And you are only into yourself.

You made me laugh so hard it hurt

And made me cry so much I burst

But all those broken promises you made I will never forget

Even though it is so hard to accept

But I will remember your absence forever

Because without you now, life is a new endeavor.

Every Star

before Covid

existed in autocorrect

you swore on every star

we had one month

with it

but God laughs

when we make plans

another year around

the sun

and the stars sparkle on

stay

it gets harder each day

to go on my way

and never hear you say

“stay.”

we could be fine again.

you could be mine again.

it could all be like before

you slammed the door.

you locked me in.

i’m waiting for the same old sin.

longing for it to begin again.

you swore on every star

i could always be where you are

but that wasn’t enough for you

to stay and see this through.

Betrayal.

"You, you son of a bitch," She screamed. Tears streamed from her eyes and the door cracked behind her.

"Honey, I can explain." I fumbled with the button. It wasn't working. "It's not what you think."

"You swore I was the only one." Her voice cracked as she raised her knife. Cold sweat dripped down my face as she backed me into the closet. There was no where left to run.

"You swore on every star that I was the one." The tears stopped falling. Her face burned red as her words seeped with rage. The knife trembled in her hand. This was it.

She raised the knife. I raised my hands to shield my face. A cool rush of air rushed past my hands. Ha, she missed! The knot in my stomach loosened as I opened my eyes. There it was. She fell back into the wall with a thud. The clothes rack fell on top of her as she collapsed to the ground with the knife sticking out of her gut. Blood pumped out staining the white carpet.

Her fading eyes locked on mine. "I swear by every star in the sky you will remember me." Then the last flicker of light faded from her eyes as I stepped out of the closet.

What Can I Say, I’m a Heart-Breaker

Okay, I'll admit,

I swore,

I promised.

I said I'd commit.

But not anymore,

I just need to be honest.

Commitment,

its hard for me.

Promises broken.

You're hell-bent,

can't even see,

that I have no devotion.

Swore on the stars,

but reality hurts

and it's daytime now.

I've left you with scars

of trust issues on your heart,

and a torn, love-less vow.

Empty Promises

Empty promises are like falling stars

And you…

You swore on every star

You wouldn’t go over there

In the land of blood and tears

And yet you did…

Empty promises are like falling stars

And you…

You swore on every star

You would come back to me

Kiss me one more time and hold me tight

And yet you didn’t…

..that you would go back and find her. The promise seems so far away now, in this new life. Is she still waiting for you? Does she even want you to find her now, after so long? You feel worlds away from her but there is still a shining string of lost connection- maybe if you follow it you'll finally get closure.

Evangeline

Stars are constant.

Sure, they shift as the world turns, but we can count on our favorite constellation to be there in a few months. Living in a small town, I am comfortable walking alone at night, knowing that the moon and stars are watching over me.

Tonight, I walk outside into the cool autumn air and reflect on all the good that God has done. It is good. He is good.

The stars are a promise to me, that everything is going to be okay.

God is going to take care of His people.
