Wonderful Creature

He looked at me beyond the obvious, and I shivered amidst

The deepness of his eyes, so piercing and midnight blue

Their intensity was nothing anyone would ever miss

And I knew beyond any doubt, a new reckoning anew.

I felt the haunting of my soul and my eyes stung with tears

I was both afraid and enticed beyond any measure I’d known

As he moved toward me, his purpose much too evidently clear

I stood where I was, unmoving, lest the root of his impetus be sown.

The line of his mouth hardened, his blue eyes deepened to black

Mesmerized, unable to move, I watched him draw ever nearer,

I felt the chill of his breath as he sighed, poised on the precipice of attack

And an enlightenment of his motive became abundantly clearer.

Here was no simple mortal known to mankind amidst the dark

But a creature, so wonderfully formed betwixt both it and the light

He leaned closer to me, his beautiful mouth reaching its mark

And I fell into him, not resisting that which was to be my plight.

I felt the thrill of his touch, the chill of his mouth as he imbibed

From me the blood that ran richly and so magnificently red

And I knew that from this point evermore our worlds would collide

Into an unknown, unchangeable moment I neither feared nor did dread.

He lifted his coal black gaze, looking deeply into dazed eyes of green

I fell and leaned into him, pleading and begging for still more despite

So strong was the unforgiveable need for the unknown and what I had seen

As I longed for his feast upon me to prolong with no need of respite.

Wonderful creature of darkness and light, mark me forever more

With your chilled touch and your stealthy lightness of foot

Make me yours through this night and the truth of your lore

My mind screamed, my heart beat, as the dark, unbidden thought took root.

A grimace of a smile deliberately formed upon his handsome visage

As he stepped back and gave me a look of pure longing so vivid

My heart skipped a beat and felt the immensity of the privilege

And then he quietly withdrew, and the need for him steadily lifted.

As he disappeared into the liquid ink of the midnight evening

I looked about and slowly returned to myself, though amazed and in wonder

With thoughts anew at what I’d just seen despite knowing it was deceiving

And my heart and mind split, and my complete being burst asunder.

And now in the stillness and dark of night, many years beyond that first time

I feel the blue of his piercing eyes, the chill of his breath, the touch of his mouth

And I long for he who invaded midnight while into my heart he did climb

Creating a vortex of need within, as forever, my love for any other was doused.

For Sarah

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

The valley is beautiful,

And so are you.

Orchids are white,

Ghost ones are rare,

Your light is red,

And so is your hair.

Magnolia grows,

With buds like eggs,

Transition is smooth,

And so are your legs.

Sunflowers reach,

Up to the skies,

Fields are green,

And so are your eyes.

Foxgloves in hedges,

Surround the farms,

Amounts are small,

And so are your arms.

Daisies are pretty,

Daffies have style,

Your boots is shiny,

And so is your smile.

The world is beautiful,

Just like you.

don’t

when you tell me you care

i swear i die a thousand deaths

i'm not used to that

when you ask me

how i feel

i always wanted this and now i

cannot help but lie

whenever you speak

words so sweet

so awfully kind

and really far from reality

when you compliment me

on something no one ever would

and believe in me

tell me i can

i realize how little you know me.

Drizzled Inn

Pop in. Catch a story. Or go for glory. Telling one too. Ain’t no fiction our imagination won’t entertain but a few.

Strike a nerve? Miss ones cue? When it’s drowned out by laughter. Here’s me looking absurd to you.

Or my words can’t escape me. Drowning there under my tongue, coughing them up, and a lung at the urge to speak. On the verge of an acrid venting. Only deep breaths helped preventing.

Either way overcome my wishes I fail to mention. Once again its stolen the breath meant to herald my intentions.

The tension makes ones brain ache. And the shakes are sure to awaken in you. Trying to hasten won’t do. Outpacing any good taste. Face turning a colorless ghostly white paste. Any poise replaced by the shame and sweat in which you’ll baste.

Held in restraint by angst, shackled by anxiety. Envious of. Not angered by. Free spirits. I hear their banter an seek out an earful. Anchoring in a shady place. Ear hustling for hope. Ones own thoughts might be replaced. Waiting on the conversation to be served up on a plate. All the while shrinking further and further away from that very fate.

Tearful I peer out at the limelight recognizing its invite. And I’m again speared by the fear. I’ve yet to steer clear of. Not until my hands leave the wheel is the shuddering subdued. Microphone check! One two! Screw who?

I make note of that clue. Closing my eyes. Miyagi style. To think on it a few. Look mom! No hands. Driving blind behind the wheel. Askew! I guess muscle memory will do.

The words you know. Rehearsed perversely? If in truth this should show. Once my mouthful gets out there. I’m yours to know. You know? Call me on my bullshit. If only I could have said more of it myself who knows? Ponied up over piped down. Put up instead of shut up. From my very own pursed lips.

No I sneeze uncontrollably. Some phobia consoling my thoughts I presume. As terribly tepid quips. Stripped down just lukewarm droplets from a drip. Are rife amiss amongst a forceful mist. It would have pleased anyone’s moist lips to miss.

He leads the kids

up the steps of his porch,

guiding them on a grand adventure.

But it is only he

who knows the way,

who sees the danger,

the mighty hero can save the day.

A crooked smile twists behind the mask

unseen by the eyes of the children,

unaware of their strange task.

Something sinister deepens his eyes

until they become an abyss of pure black,

completely devoid of all life.

A chuckle escapes the Brahmin’s throat,

rattling like chains, screeching like nails on a chalkboard.

Taking the kids to his basement,

his lair, no, his playhouse,

where dozens of masks line the walls.

Foxes, bunnies, elephants,

bears, deer, boars, and vermin,

each one mounted like a hunter’s prized catch.

The walls have eyes,

eyes that see everything.

The masks have seen

unimaginable horrors,

understood not by even the maddest man,

oh, ho, but the Brahmin can.

The echoes of cries fill the halls,

screams of pure agony and terror

that petrify even the strongest of men.

Then...silence,

stillness, calm and tranquil.

Setting them up, he puts them on display.

They are his playthings,

around the table they go,

heads held upright,

with eyes cold and dead.

He leaves the children alone to play

while he runs away

to find more friends,

for today is a good day,

a rather good day to play.

The shadows

You once promised me for eternity

Silent, troubled

soulless, bleak

A second, an instant

tortured

The shadows

You once promised me an eternity

You once promised me your infinity

It has promised,

Our blood red smile

You who speak from the shadows

You who hide in my mind

I sit blind,

but not deaf

I listen,

for you

glissining in the shadows

You once promised me infinity

but there is only confusion

for you in my mind

gone with the wind

but stay with goodnight

I would have loved you forever

I shared with you my soul

was there no truth?

There wasn't

A wish unfilled

I couldn't believe

there was only darkness in those shadows

and our soul is no more

I'll peel back those troubles,

I shall heal

You, my sickness,

rest in piece,

the shadows of my mind

I Cannot

Nothing is right

I cannot fight

Any longer

And I would ponder

'Why am I trying

to be not denying

when the past

is sneaking up so fast.'

I cannot wonder

what it would be like to wander

away from the past,

and to cast darkness.

I have to harness

this thing inside

that is making me decide

if I should see

the ecstasy.

But instead

I am full of dread

Trust

Do you think that you will want me when you know that I’m not there?

Condensending Mastermind

Your path is certain,

Always a narrow line.

Your words you fill with sweet designs;

Relinquish scattered emotions

Left to remind the flame of the hearts

Now eroded with time

Why such a deliberate sorrow

To a love so fine?

A Love that was meant to withstand all time.

Now tho true souls are unveiled

They are still left in confines.

Urgently longing a significant sign,

To erase these illusions and forever define,

The Passion between them that keeps them entwined.

Holdfast to the purities,

On which deceit dines.

The option will truly

Send chills down your spine.

Dark Love

Addilyn

A picture of you fell last night

I haven't seen you in years

I'll see you soon. well, I might

If I can escape the cavern of my own creation

My brain tumbles around and all I can see is these words

Surrounding, questioning this bodiless nation

So I turn to you, dear, and pray for your voice, a hummingbird

I fear I lost my way some time ago

and now I'm here a ways away from sanity

I cannot help but wonder if it is your hello

that is keeping me or driving me

But when I saw your face, it struck me like a wave, a knife

A cliche reminder of a loveless life

The feeling that you are my purpose is growing

more evident with each day ongoing

All to say I love you and I am coming

I will reach you, dear, if it is all I do in this eternity

So please just stay, don't move without knowing

that you are pushing me toward agonizing internity
