Chambered

One beats and bleeds

And cries at night

It burns with passion

And yearns to fight

The other steadies

And bides its time

Unfeeling maybe

But never unkind

As one side contracts

And gushes blood

Its lifeforce spent

In waves of love

The other reigns in

Logic and air

Sustaining the beat

With rhythm and care

Both sides make up

One chambered whole

For one gives purpose

And the other soul

In times of peace

It’s fine to dream

To allow one's heart

To yearn or scheme

But when crisis hits

You put it away

Switch off the flow

Let reason hold sway

For without both sides

One could never last

Either stoic as stone

Or burnt out too fast

Effects of Loneliness

my heart

g r a d u a l l y

melts like puddied flesh

and hardens

to stone

(weighing down in my chest...)

now all that's left

is to take a deap breath

and wait for that someone

to take all the pressure

and show me the crystals

that lay in my breast.

To Be Real

There is a statue in Verona, standing in the courtyard outside the House of Capulet, of the fair Juliet. She stands where she might once have seen the young Romeo hiding in the shadows, where she might have listened as he compared her own beauty to that of the rising sun, but for her bronzed eyes that cannot see, and her bronze ears that cannot hear.

And neither can bronze legs walk away from, nor bronze hands slap at, the cold fingers of tourists who reach happily for her breasts, cupping them for “luck.“ Nor can her bronze feet kick the tourists away as they snap endless selfies of themselves while they rub.

No, she must perpetually endure through rain, sun, and cold the throngs who come to shop, eat, polish her nipples, and photograph her heavy smile.

“O! To be the real Juliet! To be she of the flesh, and to have let the poison turn a beating heart back to ash, and dust.

O! To be a real girl, with a real heart!”

Meanwhile, in nearby Tuscany, a wooden statue of Pinocchio...

bleeding

i have fallen in love enough times to know

that yes

it hurts

makes you

cry

turns

you into

a dying

flower

petals

scattering

on the

floor

but still

my life would be

empty

without it.

Balance Beam

How could you enjoy life without danger?

Isn't that the idea of a roller coaster?

To have the fun of screaming

With the comfort of a safety buckle?

How can you know that life is real without feeling?

How would you survive without an assurance of reality?

I know I couldn't

I would rather have a broken heart

Than to never feel anything

Because a broken heart will heal

But a stone heart will never feel

As painful as it can be

I would have to say

i would much rather have a heart

that was breakable.

i am the type of person who needs people,

although only for a small amount of time.

i am empathetic,

sensitive to the feelings of others,

drawn to the smallest of things.

i am emotional,

finely attuned to my needs physically, emotionally, socially,

i know what I need in a relationship

whether it’s romantic, platonic, or familial.

i’d much rather be hurt by someone I love

than to be closed off from these relationships.

i need them to get by.

i know I can handle heartbreak,

a feeling I’m much familiar with.

Although I can be distant sometimes,

i cant deny the fact that I need love,

i need to feel loved, I need to love.

thats what makes me the person I am today.

Easy Choice

My heart of flesh is already too cold

Imagine the chill if instead it was stone

Ice or Fire?

A heart of stone...To not be affected by other's actions. By their words. This heart allows for you to cut yourself from other people and to never be affected by all the knives they try to wedge into your heart. Then again, with this heart, they cannot press those knives in. So, there's no pain. And there is no love...

A heart of flesh...To care about what others say, especially loved ones. To be affected by other's actions. This heart allows for you to know one of the most beautiful emotions in this whole world: L-O-V-E, Nat King Cole-style. Sorry, that's off topic (Though it's a great song!)...A heart of flesh feels pain. A heart of flesh is usually sensitive. It's easy to hurt somebody with this heart; whether or not you mean to hurt them.

So, cold or warm? There should never be an in-between. And in this case, we are not considering the lukewarm heart. We are considering the ice and the fire.

A person with a heart of stone is a bugbear to others (bugbear: an object or source of dread). After all, who likes the company of cold people (except for those of us who are weirdos)? But, a person with a heart of flesh draws us in. We want to talk to them. We want to be with them. They are a sunflower, and we are the hungry eyes. The eyes that are drawn to that yellow, to that light.

Personally, I would like to be a blessing to others. I want to be the reason they smile, the reason they laugh, and the reason their eyes glow. Also, I'm a hopeless romantic. And I want to be one.

What is more beautiful than love? What is more beautiful than a smile, especially the smile that is contained in the heart and shown through the eyes? What is more beautiful than somebody who is loving, caring, helpful, patient, faithful, and all those beautiful qualities that I'm not going to take the time to name now? These are qualities that are never manifested in a heart of stone; only in a heart of flesh.

So, for me, it is a heart of flesh. All. The. Way.

Why?

Because if there was a great title you wouldn’t even click on this post

No one ever views my posts

my feelings don’t matter

or do they

i choose to have a flesh heart

Why?

Because a flesh heart can be mended

stone cannot

i does not matter in the end.....

Here lies, Chivalry

Small wrinkled woman

Goes to cross the road

Man in a truck stops

Ushers her to go

She crosses first and by the time she gets to me

She says

“These boys just want to see you walk, did you see?”

“Chivalry is dead for girls like you and me.”
