I'm just a young writer, and only now beginning to press pen to page. I value life, and I hope I learn how to value the words we put it in.

The Cancer of Choice

Part of you,

Hidden in the mind

Until the examination.

You found it.

What now?

They said “I Love You”

They never saw the truth in their lover's eyes.

Challenge
In simple words, what is art?

We say that art is beautiful but

Is it

Always pretty?

We say that art is feeling but

Is it

Not also thought?

Art is choice, expression through

Choice.

Choice is freedom.

Freedom is burdensome.

Logic dictates,

Art must be a burden,

But,

It is

Our human right

To carry.

Give Me Prose

Please don't give me pretty perfect words that

Rhyme and line-up with perfect timing and beat

On smooth white paper. Give me raw feeling, thoughts scrawled on coffee

Stained, crumpled paper at 2:27 am. Give me something deep enough to

Exhaust my heart as it beats with your words; as it beats alongside your soul.

Challenge
In eight words, describe your ideal life. :P

Subtle Deceit

Pretty white curtains

Hiding sunlight from outside

Or lies from within

Challenge
This is a form of writing called a triptych. It consists of 3 syllables per line, 3 lines per stanza and 6 or 9 stanzas per poem. Any subject. Have fun with it. *******If you are looking at this challenge at this point, please also look at some notes I published this morning under the title Triptych Challengers...it has some additional information I'd want you to be aware of. Thanks.*******

Terrible Freedom

Pulling hair

Grinding teeth

It's beneath

The fear pulls

Expands skin

Stretches flesh

Cages break

The flesh splits

Blood escapes

Freedom sounds

With each drip

Every drop

Red shines through

Fleshy glass

In each crack

I create

My freedom

And my doom

Challenge

Love,

How can it be the world but still not enough?

To Love and to Leave

If I let my mind wander

If I sit here and ponder

What wonders will my mind create?

And if I let my thoughts fly

Until my head hits the sky

Can I reach that heavenly place?

Of passionate loving

And creation's becoming

Reach a world of my own design?

Where the hate that haunts me

And the troubles that taunt me

Can dissipate like mist in the wind?

Or must I stay here

Bathed in the fear

Of surviving in this bastardly world?

I guess I'll just pray

That if I must stay

I can learn to love God's broken earth.
