Honey, babe, darling, love

Oh don't be silly

you won't submit an entry

poems about love?

ha!

last I checked

this is not the 18th century

love has changed its colour

it is black

it is green

it is red

it flows freely

from some it is bled

man's love knows no bounds

for perhaps only himself.

Beautiful Rage. You see, you are fuming with madness and want to say nothing short of an insult but you decide to write instead. However, it's your natural ability as a poet to invite some beautiful words in, and with them comes the lovely rhythm. In short, can you write a lovely un-rude poem to express something that is downright rude? Tag it with #beautifulrage

Chance Encounter

Oh

How I love

Your beautiful face

As it rides

Grinds

Slides

Paints

the road

And your teeth

So jagged and

white

shared

so generously

with the air

Your eyes

blue

and

so delightfully

squinting

squeezing shut

in agonizing pain

Your mouth

So well defined

Those lips so

luscious,

round

Burst and

agape,

scattered

on

the ground

A heavenly sigh

escapes my chest

while claret or wine or

maybe even..

no, not blood

we don't talk about that

escapes yours.

How do you define hate? Do you hate? Or is hate too strong a word?

Us

Buddhism says

anger

is holding a hot coal

that you intend to throw

and in your ignorance

burning your own hand.

Infinitely, we die

Christianity says

love

thy neighbour

forgive and forget.

The end,

is nigh

Someone said

God

loves a tryer

and God knows

I fucking try

People say

Survival of the fittest

like that’s some fucking

excuse

for letting things die

We are the fittest

We hold all the cards

We can choose but,

Instead, we just get by

I hate-

I hate unjust, violent death.

To see it happen to a living being,

to see the horror in its eyes

to be powerless to stop it

yet having the power to prevent it

and failing

(assuming we even tried)

We have all the power

and we abuse it

ignore it

and take it for granted

-Why?

We’re

foul

greedy

ignorant

blasé bastards,

all of us.

For numbers,

we vie.

People say

we have, now,

so much

Look, a hospital

and here, a school

people have jobs,

and usually, food

We achieve one thing,

ten things,

a hundred things,

out of a potential

million

and we say its enough.

No, worse than that

we congratulate ourselves

we applaud

our mediocrity

We cheer

as we fail

and call it success.

I hate-

Greed

What is enough?

What makes you think I have it?

Who decides?

If I can have more, why can't I?

The more I have

The less it matters if

I lose.

There is no limit to my happiness

It cannot be sated

Because my happiness

Is not an end

Is not a goal

Bur rather,

A process.

Gaining is my goal

In the continuous

You cannot fill me

I will never be done.

The frenzied activity of what was

Energy with abandon

Time without refraction

In a myriad maze once seen

Light now barely a beam

Intangible loss

Of what once was

Wrench

Laughing, strolling, dancing and doing, long nights in happiness' embrace.

Talking, arguing, fighting, crying.

All that is left is dying.
