I dream of fleeing

sprinting, leaving

my ears hearing freedom ringing

my voice shouting, singing

my head thinking this must be

a dream I'm living

my heart giddy, gleaming

Until my feet get so heavy

I stay on the same ground

my heart screaming

mouth making no sound

Steadily walking in the same place

keeping up the same pace

pretending we aren't stuck in this

same daze

walking while going nowhere

knowing it's a mistake

When hell visits you

some people will watch you drown

in the fire, trying to escape

pretending not to smell smoke as

you stand ablaze
