Birthdays and Confusing Friendships

I dont know what to do

Should I go over there?

Would he talk to me?

Does he care?

I know that if I didn't get a present on my birthday,

I would be sad

But does he want one from me?

You know what

Presents are always welcome

So I will bring it over to him

But after that,

I'm giving up

I can't do this anymore

Outside the Glass

I wasn't avoiding you

But you thought I was

I didn't talk to anyone

I know you tried to reach out

But I was unreachable

How long 'fore you gave up?

I would come over

But he is there

My spot is taken

Do you even care?

So I'm standing outside the glass

Going through the motions

Pretending I don't care

Holding back the emotions

While my heart begins to tear

Because I miss you

Do you remember how it used to be

When I'd come over

And we'd share the sofa

I'd watch you watching the screen

Smiles on our faces

On my face

On your face

But now he's here

And I am gone

When I try to be near

You're never home

Now I'm standing outside the glass

Going through the motions

Pretending I dont care

Holding back the emotions

While my heart begins to tear

Do you even know I'm gone?

There are so many things

I want to tell you

Would you listen?

Can you even hear me?

Do you even care?

And now I'm standing in shattered glass

Trying to fix the pieces

Crying at the mess

Somehow still standing here

Is there any way to fix this?

About The Author (Because People Definitely Read These Things)

Rosemandle is a pseudonym. (Thankfully, because otherwise she would have endured a lot of teasing growing up.) Rose loves to read books, eat food, and watch really old Disney Channel shows that aired when she was 8. Currently, she is attempting to simultaneously write the next hit YA novel, a breakup song, and bingewatch everything on Disney+ before the summer is over. She has no idea what she wants to be when she grows up, and will figure that out later.
