A Life Together Beyond This World

There are so many theories about what happens after we die. Of all of those, reincarnation scares me the most because it would mean we inevitably take separate paths at some point. I have been wondering for a while now if we could make a special petition asking God to spare us from brilliant pearly gates, and allow us to roam beautiful sunny meadows alongside each other side for all of eternity. Tell me, my love, does the spellbinding possibility of such a promising afterlife existing—as slight as it may be—overwhelm you with unearthly happiness the way that it does for me?

Sliced bread...

I want to preface this by saying I love bread. All kinds. There is no such thing as a sandwich without bread and to not have sandwiches...well, I don't even want to imagine that world.

All that being said, I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, that the expression "this is the best thing since sliced bread" gives sliced bread a little too elevated of a status.

I'm sure people used to be pissed when they had a loaf of bread and had to just yank pieces off. I get it. No "slice" would be even, can't make a proper sandwich, etc. I'm sure that when the first loaf came sliced, people picked up their pitchforks and tried to find the witch or sorcerer that was responsible for such magic.

But now? Does it really measure up? If we cure cancer, are doctors going to be saying "curing cancer is the greatest thing since sliced bread!" When Neil Armstrong told the story of how he walked on the moon is it followed up by..coolest thing since sliced bread. I don't know...just seems a bit lacking in comparison. Even toasted bread might mean more.

It's a debate that will probably rage on now that I'm lighting that fire...I only bring the question not the answer. I AM going to go make a mean sandwich right now though...which, of course, would not be as satisfying or maybe even possible without....well, you know.

Why SHOULDN'T Donald Trump be President?

Don’t Let History Repeat Itself

After much research, I wrote a biography on Donald Trump when I was young and pulled it out recently. One of our jobs as responsible citizens is to help ensure that history doesn't repeat itself. Well, Donald's history as a whole would be a national embarrassment to have repeated. He is a paradox of contradictions, a flagrant misrepresentation of the values this nation was founded on, and such a bad choice that if he were to win, we may begin applying for our work visa in Canada.

The fact that Trump has gotten as far as he has in this political race suggests that our nations democratic system has major flaws that should be the real issue worth solving at the heart of any great candidates campaign.

Haunted House

The place reeked

of moth balls, of old

ways to get rid of old

problems, remedies

that never worked,

it smelled of dead

things, of musk from

pretty garbage piled

high on walls and left

to degenerate, left for

time to disintegrate,

left from shopping

trips that failed to

kill the sorrow, long

lost pets rotted into

the carpet, trapped

where they couldn’t

get out, a cat’s bones

lodged in the chimney

desperate to breathe

air, the ghosts there

discontent, phantoms

of what once was

living alongside the

dead, a home that had

its day and now with

a groan it saw what

it had made and was

dissatisfied, saw the

children raised in

halls not so hallowed

and remembered the

slapping was louder

than the kissing, than

the laughter and the

lovemaking, tainted

memories seep into

the ceiling, the floor,

the roof-tiles so they

can’t reach heaven,

can’t be cleansed,

sinking into the ground

as the foundation

gives way, wondering

if it hadn’t been a

little crooked all

along.

... For inspiring messages and comments of support and encouragement recently, specifically on my latest story 'Moving Through Walls' - (link above) It really does mean a great deal to me.

Art is only art because of an audience; an audience of one or more, not excluding anyone.

Anyway, a small message of big thanks today, London says Hi !

Now, tell me YOUR stories, I'm listening...

School is Cool

Some people think school is cool some people don't. School has a lot of learning and it has a lot of drama. Some people like going to school because they think it all about something else than learning. School is about learning...LEARNING!!!
