Sometimes they overpower you.

Sometimes you want to drown in them,

Gently roll them in your mouth before you use them.

Sometimes they break you,

Take away tiny pieces of you.

But the most beautiful feeling is -

When you run into someone and they absolutely and completely evade you. :)

Everything is temporary,

The moon fades,

The sun sets,

Even stars burn out and die.

One day your soul will be free of this earthly skin,

If you were great you may have a road to your name,

Or stories of your fame.

But stories will be just stories,

People don’t even read books anymore.

So much time has passed

I’m not longer shiny, sparkly and new

Grown up, some may even call old

Finally wise enough to hold my own

Many dreams have been realised and even more have been snuffed

Leaving behind traces in empty whisky cups

So many people have left

Moments have left me bereft

Old enough to buy my own expensive perfume

I smell like I bathe in flowers and the blue sea

It's the weeds that I prefer,

And the weeds that I want to be like.

The flowers may be pretty,

The ones you want to touch.

But those weeds though,

They are just so goddamn tough!

When there’s no fire left,

Not even a tiny spark

When all your dreams have died in this gloom

And there’s no sign of light

Because even the stars have left for another’s sky

That’s when I’d remind you -

You are your own sun and your own moon

And if you ripped open your chest

You’d realise that you have a whole universe inside of you!

She was but a shooting star baby,

She was born to crash and burn.

But man when she did go down,

The whole sky lit up with her light.

So beautiful in her wake,

That mortals made wishes on her dying trail.

You will live in places beyond the walls of this school

There will be boys you will kiss

And you will marry the one you love kissing the most

You will fall many times

And stand up again and again

You will be proud of yourself

What you achieved or didn’t will not matter anymore

The fact you were popular or not won’t either

You will make new friends

You will never forget the old

You will loose people you love

And the universe will give you more to love instead

You will break your heart more than once

You will heal

You will become so strong

That you will be your own knight in shining armour

The baby fat will go

There will be places you will see that you only read of

And when you go there you will never want to leave

But you will have to

And that’s what I what I want to tell my 13 yr old self the most

Therefore it’s important to not find people who want to fix you

But people who fill you up with so much sunshine

That the damage is forced out of you

The key is not to be just the silver lining baby
