Challenge of the Week LXXVII
This week we're going to try something different. Very different. Sort this challenge feed by newest. Read the most recent post, then continue it. Posts will be constrained to 700 words, so nobody has to read a novella before writing their own entry. When evaluating, we'll read the posts in order, from oldest to newest. Feel free to depart from the previous author stylistically, thematically, or in whichever way you choose, though your entry should be somehow connected to the previous entry. If the previous post is nonsensical, or otherwise hopelessly salvageable, continue from the most recent post you can. (If you do elect to continue from a different post, it'd be helpful if you could indicate which post you're continuing from). We'll write the first sentence. "The dream came to an abrupt end when the hysterical ringing of the telephone split the midnight silence."

The Missing Lamp

I am not sure how I am still alive, after drinking that cup of love

I am not sure how I am still sane, after drinking that cup of poison

That cup which upon sipping will enslave you for a lifetime, yet

That cup which upon sipping will grant you a happiness of a lifetime

Oh, if I was wise and had listen to those who had drank before me of that cup I wouldn’t have been here, I wouldn’t have lost that joyous playful lad that once lived in thy heart

How I’d give the world for that joyous playful lad

For that lad and only that lad can bring light into my dark cold world

A world which there is no day only cold dark nights

Oh, how I’ve search throughout the busy world filled with little dim lights for my bright lamp yet, the only light I see is emanating brighter than the sun from the castle of the evil witch who had once fed me from that cup,

What does one do who has come in the cross path of life?

Live in the dark lonely world as a freeman,

Or live in the bright glamorous castle as a prisoner?

What does one do, what does one do?

Does one learn to become a robber to rob others’ lights, to become a sucker to suck others’ energy, to become feeder to feed others from thy cup, to become a lover and to love others?

But how can one be a lover when one can’t even love thy own-self?

Oh, how I pray and I pray, and I only pray to you the one and only the creator of ups and downs, heavens and hells, light and dark, righteousness and wretchedness, yesterday and today, today and tomorrow, life and death, love and hate, to free my light from that witch or free my body from thy earth for I’m just a empty vessel with no soul roaming the endless road of life with no goal don’t know where it’s taking me but its getting to me more and more

So I pray to you, I pray to you and only you to give me the light so I can see again,

What will you lose?

It’s as if a drop of water is dripped from a ocean or a grain of sand is given from a desert so I ask you again what will you lose oh divine one
