She is a Whirlwind

Her gloved hand skates across the cold steely handrail, raking ice off into the snow as she glides down the steps.

The streetlamp’s warm, yellow light illuminates tufts of snow like a spotlight in the night air. They wander aimlessly around their actress before polka-dotting her frayed sweater.

She wraps her scarf tighter over her shoulders and dances under her spotlight. The ensemble of snowflakes sway about her in a flurry of motion. She is a whirlwind.

Challenge
Pen to the Paper 3
Write with no plan. Sit down and write a story, a poem, a "mind-wandering," with absolutely no plan in mind. I find myself doing this a lot, and I want to see what your stories that have not been planned out look like. After writing the first draft, you can revise it however many times you like.

lift your finger from the wheel and let it exist in its own being

feel your mind take in everything around you, let it drift

~~

look down at your clothes

did you buy them for yourself or for others?

~~

look at the space around you

does it represent who you are?

or does it simply fill empty space?

~~

glance out the window

is it late out? maybe you should get some sleep

maybe you see a girl walking by, maybe she looks lonely like you

you smile and see an entire life with her

then you remember

you’re inside on your computer

Small Forgotten Things

It’s those small forgotten things.

That chat room you spent hours typing away on that comes peeking in every so often in your head, bearing the gift of a warm feeling of nostalgia.

That game where you met your online friend group, that's now disconnected indefinitely.

That friendly voice that brought you the solice of escape from the people in your life, Last Online 4 Years Ago.

The Shadow’s Growing on Your Face

The shadow’s growing on your face

My blood can’t be replaced

I’m getting tired of the chase

Love is not a race

Your heart’s in a different place

We’re still here at this pace

Warning, Impact, time to brace..

Those Happy moments

Raining pouring down as we run outside with our cameras to snap pictures, not caring whether we get wet or not.

Taking pictures of her as the snow falls down around us.

Walking around a lake teasing each other as we watch the sticks we throw float away in the water.

Dancing with her and ignoring everyone else, because no one else mattered.

Sharing earbuds as we sit and watch YouTube videos about her favorite animals, and listen to our favorite songs.

These happy moments are the ones I’ll miss the most when I leave high school. But the ones I’ll love forever. Because they’ll stay with both of us forever.

Until The Song Ends

When we dance, time stays still.

It sits, unmoving and blurred as we see into each other’s eyes, into each other’s emotions, into the music, and into the moment.

Our moment.

She lays her head on my shoulder and my head leans against hers in return, as our silhouetted figures flow in a movement of beauty and unity.

We flow forever.

Well.

At least until the song ends.

Love Isn’t Conscious

The ability of falling in love is not a conscious act. We do it whether we know it or not, whether we like it or not, it happens by itself.

Explore the concept of Silence in a poem...
We explored time before, now the silence...

Silence.

She sits silent in her chair, unmoving.

Her mind wants to be a thousand miles away from him.

He watches, broken, waiting for her to speak. No words come. Only silence.

She wants comfort, and love. But she pushes it away.

So she is silent.

He wants life and love from her. He wants to see her happy. He wants to comfort her.

She will push him away and say nothing.

She will stay in silence.

Your Laugh.

Your laugh makes me want to make you laugh even more. It echoes in my head like a cavernous call. When you laugh, it makes me smile to know that I mean something to you. I want to laugh with you. And cry with you. For the rest of my life.

Your Eyes

Every time I look into your eyes, it makes me fall in love with you even more. Every time I talk to you and make you laugh, your eyes light up and I see your heart. Your heart make me want to fall in love with you. But I know it can't happen. You have restrictions. You have feelings for other people, I know too well. It crushes me, because I want be the one you wake up thinking about every morning. I want to be the one you fall in love with. I want to fall in love with your eyes.
