What was the darkest time of your life? If you got out of it, how?

My Darkest Hour

You were my darkest hour

and it still envelopes me.

The shadow that looms over me

breathing on my neck.

Every shiver I feel when I leave the house,

every voice I hear when the atmosphere

...feels not quite right.

You were my darkest hour,

its hand still wraped around my skull.

Every time I flinch at the soft touches,

with every kind whisper.

When my legs quiver

everytime I walk down stairs.

You were my darkest hour

that I tried to drown

and drink away.

Everytime I hear a violin

and recall

my head spinning

motionless on the bed.

You were my darkest hour

and I've fought you

for three years.

To once again

baske in the sunshine.

A smile not forced.

Albatross

He circles me

in everlasting love

or so he vows

but I feel the noose

from hanging gallows

tightening just before

the floor collapses

the voices strangling

my soul

asking last words

my cry chokes

as life breath

struggles in gasps

his presence’s room

is becoming

infinitely smaller

I’m crushed by

threatening forces

attaching, squeezing

my petrified skin

without releasing

I can live no longer

his shadow looms

rope tightens

around my throat

as I jump

into nothingness

that is hung firmly

around my neck

an expired albatross.

I.

Taste and Breathe Who I Am

Taste my soul

rolling on your soft tongue.

Instinctively know

who I am.

Inhale my creative rush,

savor thought pearls,

swallow my essence.

Discover diamond drops

of memory, enhanced

by ginger tang sparkles,

residing under my skin,

drawing us together

to relish our unspoken words

residing under our skin,

silver syllables dangling

from mind baubles,

escalating talents

of inherent instinct,

shimmering surface

radiating to senses.

Look into my eyes

taste and breathe

who I am.

Desolation

Three in the morning,

as the shadows toll,

you sit alone -

born from the clouds

but strewn on ground,

sitting on mound

of dissembled lies,

curled and swirled

in fetal crush.

Only you can hear

your heartbeat straining

to be heard above

roar of pounding rain.

Unseen behind white smoke

of somber indifference,

you fight to escape

loveless husk

when you don’t

even love yourself

in the vertigo

of midnight strife.

Erased and defaced

in still silence,

you decide

your own fate.

You know things are no longer normal when...

you stare at the lifeless body lying at your feet, no longer regretting your actions.

Depression

Depression is a war,

A fight against yourself.

Every word a punch.

Every thought a bullet.

Depression is a thief.

It steals everything from you.

The things left behind,

They trap you in.

Depression is a murder.

It kills who you used to be.

When you look in the mirror,

You won't see yourself.

Depression is a nightmare.

You go to sleep crying.

You wake up screaming,

Into a world of hell.

Depression is an ocean.

An ocean filled with emotions.

But every day,

Your drowning.

Depression is a bottomless pit.

When you fall into it,

You might never come out.

And no one can help.

Depression is a void.

You're sucked in.

But you don’t know,

If you'll make it out alive.

Depression is a war.

A fight against yourself.

You will struggle.

But you can make it out alive.

Seeing With the Mind, Not the Eyes

Lift the veil of your blackness

in the spirituality of deep night.

greet the rosy red hue of sunrise

kissing your skin with passion.

See with your heart the purple

softness and love mingling with red.

Thumb the rough bark of brown tree,

warmth of dead plants, decaying,

earth opening up to burgeoning life.

Stroke green to absorb virgin growth,

imbibing freshness of clean health,

like a minty taste on your tongue.

Brush the blue of cold water, gurgling,

smell its salty brine wafting around you.

Caress blush on your cheeks in red dashes,

heat emanating in color of spicy passion,

flashes of anger and intensity, overwhelming.

Whiff wind-whipped stormy colors of grey

breathing sweet ozone and new breezy air.

Peel the pebbled skin of an orange, taste

sweetness like the tropics, round like

the orange globe of the sunset in sky.

Savor yellow, like a ripened banana

nourishing and sweet, drawn into soul.

Wrap white of purity and cleanliness,

cocooning your body in soft simplicity.

Expand all your senses to see the beauty

light touches of color grazing your skin.
