AT

I took water from the mountain

I slept in the trees

I listened to the thunder

as the lightening helped me see

I walked with my own step,

at my own pace,

with what I had on my back.

And the sound of the leaves rustling

was my only soundtrack.

Pages blanched

A windup of the process

"In conclusion," if you will

take it down to arbitration

hold the steps in fixed quadrille.

A grande jeté towards a reveal,

swift percipience

pinched and pressed.

With no burden of proof~ excuse me,

there's no choice, I must digress.

Human desire to fulfill~

the evanescence that distracts the core.

The purpose~ only a memory

what once was, is now no more.

The time I left

I took my time,

tires spun slow.

Other cars traveled in the direction to go.

I had desires to follow;

the side view captured more than the lights.

Cut it close on a winding lane

(once or twice);

went down 7 miles away from an address I'd recognize.

I felt the switch of pavement.

Breaking stones vibrated at my forefoot.

I had taken a sip;

tasted his drink he left in the holder.

I spilled it.

The coldness soaked into me.

It broke my moment's thought.

It was hours of stretch until

nothing remained but to go home.

They say,

the longest way round

is the shortest way

home.

good-byes

finally.

we're doing it,

we're really going places.

I heard that you bought a plane ticket,

so I bought a radio.

I might take a bath with it.

Cold War

There is a Cold War and you sit back there and chew groundnut. When the heat is on even the snake finds a place to hide, don't mistake the rattling snake for a fool just because it makes a sound before it stings. If the nation would fall then there must be one to lift them up, but when that one finds no value in the heritage given he too would sleep. Let the youths rise and let's the women fight, no one was made equal but today we are all the same.

blackberries

are miniature grapes

just like broccoli

are miniature trees,

and holy shit

does

that

make

them

taste

better

thing is,

they go along better

with beer

than with wine

and

I don't know why

Endings

If you loved the body--

Or the person in the body--

You'd take the body

Out into the woods.

That's where bodies come from.

You'd honor the body

With a sunshine reception,

Or a rain cleanse,

Or a snow baptism,

Your fingers cold in your pockets.

You'd gather the kindling,

Your hands colder still,

And you'd arrange it in a dry place.

You'd remove a lighter from your backpack

And you'd slowly set to flame

The tiny home you built.

You'd lean into the danger

The heat drying your tears,

Warming your fingers.

Burn, burn, burn.

Goodbye, the fire would whisper

In its deep voice.

Goodbye, the body would whisper,

In the language only you would understand.

Goodbye, you would whisper back.

This is the only way to say goodbye.

Burn, burn, burn.

Hubris

I stand a giant, crushing my faults,

I laugh in the face of humility.

I ride higher, higher, I AM GOD!

You are all insects compared to me.

The fates may come for me soon,

But I fear them not, for I

Am invincible.   Screw it.   Let them come.
