Freedom

Free from the confines of our thoughts,

that imprison us.

Free from the jobs that enslave us.

Free from people's expectations of us.

Free from everything we feel we are meant to be.

The Clouds Took Pity

Each robust rain

d

smiled a "hello" upon

my upturned face

     one

and I suppressed

a gurgle

somewhere

between

anguish

and gratitude.

I prayed

you would

find an artful way

just once

to pierce the layers

keeping heaven

apart from earth.

Her Soul Within Our Soul

Note: This is actually a song I wrote some time ago for my father when my grandmother passed away. I thought I would share it here.

Heaven, you've opened up your door

To the loveliest angel

You've ever seen before

She's with you now

And father, you haven't let her go

She's gone to a place

Where she can look down below

And watch over you

Brother, do you remember how

We'd walk next to her

With our eyes on the ground

Hunting for gold

Well now you know she's up above

Eyes looking down

Heart still full of love

I can feel her in my soul

Her wisdom in the morning breeze

Her strength within our bones

Her light above the tallest trees

Her soul within our soul

Mother, do you remember well

The wisest of words

She'd always tell

There's nothing she didn't know

And father, I know you miss her so

But she's with us all

She hasn't let you go

I can feel it in my soul

Her wisdom in the morning breeze

Her strength within our bones

Her light above the tallest trees

Her soul within our soul

Her vision in our eyes

Her kindness in our hearts

Her words within our minds

Her soul within our soul

Lost Sheep

In those days,

in thirst of those beliefs,

my faith sheltered me at the vespers;

infectious whispers~

those betrayals had no place within

my convictions. Now,

head bowed, I find myself lost.

Adrift, amongst the chants and hymns;

once short, simple melodies carrying

the key to the eternal bounty,

now rows of rusty repeats. Notes,

barely heard but

played in pews of succession.

Though, some sing,

no intonation rings.

The syllables are dried out,

wrung of any raised spirits.

Dipping tones break,

then lift back up in genuflect,

only to dull again in their worship. Rhythmically and insistently,

sounding dull~

inevitably, so dull.

Our monotonous homage.

I gaze out on the scene.

Looking straight through the congregation

I see the pastor in charge;

eyes fixated, down and focused.

His testaments are translated

and keep him in line.

I look around at the faces surrounding me. Heat rises from our bodies,

sending waves of warm updraft,

gently swaying me backwards,

forwards, further,

then closer to the altar.

Intensified by the glazed candle hues,

the whiffs of incense addles my brain

and I find myself staggering

for the hassock. Mixing in

the sounds of dim lilting~

I almost give up completely just

from the experience.

But instead,

I break bread,

kneel in prayer,

before wandering back out

into the light of my day.

We’re Through

you picked a fight

last night. and right

away I knew, sight

unseen, your bite,

like your bark, might

be worse than sleight

meant to excite.

those who delight

in keeping tight

eye on full fright

triggered by blight

have no foresight.

it’s not alright

when you invite,

most impolite,

a parasite

into our rite.

your acts incite

disdain; no white

flag stirred invite

in me tonight.

an erudite

would find no plight

to fear despite

sparks to ignite

a long, swift flight.

at dawn’s grey light –

you’ll find me quite

gone. Not in spite,

but set to write

a wrong.

If your life had a theme song, what would it be and why?

White Rabbit: my theme

"One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small

And the ones that mother gives you, don't do anything at all"

Yes, my theme song was this

1970's

The pills my mother gave me did nothing

So I went in her draws to find the little pills

Valium for the euphoria, Codeine for pain & more euphoria

The high school years start..more pills, "Black Beauties" for the rush, Cocaine "feel I can do anything" Pot to mellow down..

Yup that was my theme...it's not now but I have to stay "green" and remember because I don't want... "Go ask Donna when she's ten feet tall"...

anymore....

Advice

Courtesy: my best advice;

Stop bearing the name "smart" when you can't differentiate between green and lemon,

Stop being punctual to church when your are not ready for the sermon.

Don't ask her out when you can't take her in,

Stop being sorry when you intentionally committed the sin.

Don't be such a jerk when she attempt her first kiss,

Don't waste those advice when your still gonna loose the keys.

Cast away those innocent face behind the defendant's court when you know your going to jail,

Stop shading irrelevant tears, we all know the failure was real not a tale.

Don't turn his bed service when we both know he's never gonna fix a ring on your finger,

Stop caring for other kids when you can't care for your little linder.

Putting on those Goggles can't dash you the name "professor ",

Seducing all guys around you can't make you act like the confessor.

Stop making money when you don't know your worth in life,

Stop reading sweet prose and poems when your not ready to comment or like.

Thanks.
