Paris Eulogy

Oil and water have not reconciled

since the dawn of chemistry's birth

neither can, nor will

so too is true

of those that do violence

and live by the sword

they will die by the same means

the Paris Event

indescriminate violence

against the unsuspecting innocent

who simply want to do their business

of living

who want to enjoy Life

who want to live and let live

who bless the world with their love

of humanity

those that live by violence and

worship its means

to an end

of their sinister,

anti-humanity goal

murder of humanity

will not, can never

justify, reconcile,

their horrific actions

with those of the civilized world

the rule of law

benevolent

freedom

or

the rule of law

marshall

totalitarianism

"free democracies

or free KGB"

Gandhi, King, Jesus and

many others like you and me

know that

love and hate can never mix

hate can never reconcile,

only love's persuasion

of hate

maybe

love can mix where there is hate

God is real

he is spirit

he is love

"Love thy neighbor as thyself"

in memory of those

for those who were murdered in Paris

my condolences to

their families, friends

and those worldwide

who believe that love

and only love

can bridge differences

How We Will Fall

I know I've already posted tonight, but I wanted to say something to honor those lost in the Paris terrorist attacks, and those helping and needing help in the aftermath.

You try to crush the world in your chains

You exert your every effort across nations

You squeeze your disease through every opening you can find

In an attempt to destroy us all

Violence

Death

Chaos

It seemed you had succeeded

And put our backs to the wall

You must have rejoiced

You must have rung the victory bells

You must have put up your feet

But what you don't know is that we still hear hope's call

So we are standing, up off the ground

All across the world

Through hashtags

Relief efforts

Donations

Support and cooperation among us all

You may not want to see it

But we are showing you

No matter how hard you throw us

How thoroughly you break us

How forcefully your blows land

We

Are

Showing

You

How very nobly, courageously, and defiantly we will fall

what is poetry?

what is poetry

it is raw emotion

decorated for the ears

it hits the heart in the core

and makes your thoughts race

when you exhale

it leaves your body

along with the stress

hand in hand

The One Thing

picked up the phone tonight

can't remember when

been a long time since i've heard your voice

don't know where you've been

listened awhile and it was clear

you've been searching for something

a life on the road played out loud

kept you from hearing the one thing

heard the words of an angel

is what you said to me

but all that i was doing

was getting you to see

the feelings i had,

i left on the side of the road

of no return,

when the nights drank up the truth with lies

in the morning i came to learn

sometimes you have to make a choice

or maybe it makes you

picked up the phone tonight

and it was then i knew

heard the words of an angel

can't remember when

been a long time since you've heard my voice

don't know where i've been

listened awhile and it was clear

i've been searching for something

life in the lights became a crowd

kept me from knowing the one thing

heard the voice of an angel

so glad you called on me

reminding me of this love thing

and getting me to see

where reality is a nothing

we found strength

in the darkest corners of the world

where the light meets

the wind and all time is zeroed.

the earth where colors appear black

and white and nature is frozen

the seconds tick by.

the stillness charged our hollow bodies;

our insides smeared and slathered on the

floor like butter on burnt toast.

all crevices full of emotion

we. stand. as. one.

there is no you or i

where reality is a nothing.

suspense binds our souls

and we drift:

we are slow

we are sagging

we are everything

we will soon cease to be anything

where reality is a nothing.

sounds and shapes slip away

a blank wall shields us all

we feel empty.

we are overflowing.

they are disappearing.

you are disappearing.

i am disappearing.

because in the end

there is nothing

when

reality

is

everything

lucifer

he says he'll make me his martyr

if i beg him,

that he'll let me feel religion

if i let him turn the hem of my shirt inside-out,

kiss the cotton out of my mouth,

and spit fire.

he makes fists out of my fingers

until i am back alleys and barbed wire

ready to storm heaven

when his trumpet calls.

he says we were made to make god tremble,

to make kingdoms fall.

so i let his lips linger on my skin.

he tells me to give up

so i give in.

he says my kisses are penance

so i repent on silk sheets,

worshipping a faith

that's got me down on both knees.

no sleep

and the churning in my stomach

tells me i should be asking for forgiveness,

but i've only been praying for keeps.

he drinks

the blood in my palms

instead of washing them clean,

talks vices into psalms

and scriptures into blasphemy.

i feel sin in my ribs

and him on my lips,

trying to pull purgatory

out of my hips

until i am all fire and brimstone.

i don't know if i want to believe.

he says if i give more, i'll receive,

that even if my faith shakes and my back breaks

he won't leave me alone.

i hit dead ends

and thin walls

to drown out his voice.

i pour my veins into

vessels just to hear

white noise.

he says

he'll make us legends to believe in,

that we'll do too much evil to die in vain.

he abandons me once i am his.

he never tells me his name.

3/4ths

Lost, but will never be found

A queen, but will never be crowned

Here, but will never be seen

Asleep, but will never have a dream

Gone, but no one will notice

Trying, but will never gain focus

Whole, but always missing a part

Caring, but without having a heart

Seeing, but there isn't a picture

Together, but still the wrong mixture

Old, but will never be rotten

Fallen, but not yet forgotten

The Cold

There is something within you that illuminates.

There is something within you that discriminates poets.

There is something within you that makes wonder wake up.

Theres something deep within you that makes me die a little every time we meet.

I despise the grayness of November

and I hate its quiet sobs

It makes time and life slow down,

yet everything this grip touches

dies with the coldness of its breath

I hate it when it gets dark so quickly,

the sun abandons us all.

Life becomes just a burden

when the forget-me-nots die.

I wonder if love will ever find me

I wonder if winter will ever be forever.

I wonder what it is like to be outside

Where everyone seems to be burning

with the flames of hell everyone rejoices.

I wonder if  your skin will be enough to protect me,

From turning into something nobody believes in.

I wonder if you ever think of me as much as i think of you,

You are no more than a forbidden love who is too far from reaching,

yet I can touch everyday

I hate it when it is too damn cold in November.

And everything seems to stop all of a sudden

everything in me dies everyday during the day.

And it hurts at night when the flames of despair

are able to thaw all this pain...

Where are you now…?

Fork in Eye

Black dress draped upon your floor

Shoes lost a long time ago

Lipstick, smudged upon your neck

Surrounded in passion's kiss

You stumble, trying to undress

As I get drunk on your whiskey lips

Exploring gently with warm fingertips

Setting a fire, we won't forget

Collapsing onto your bed

Soon to be drenched in sweat

Body aching, please don't stop

Lose ourselves in each other's pace

Wrapped in your embrace

Until the sky is lit with the morning's rays

Then the spell of the night is broken

Hangover headache mixed with regret

As you and I realize what we did
