Bleak Walls

Bleak walls

Pervading darkness

Stillness cuts like a knife

Famished for meaning

Emptiness swells and suffocates life...

Ah! Once vibrant and beautiful… now devoid of function or purpose

A ravished and animated existence… now lifeless and driven by bitter cold…

Into the grim deadness of winter

The bell tolls… hushed at first… but then more loudly… the enlarging deafening shrillness

The vociferous pandemonium

Cancelling out the bittersweet recall

Oh! Tortuous anguished memories, wilt thou leave me?

When will the turbulent stillness end?

Someone's lost lover - quakes and shivers at the hollow Nothingness…

Evading Solace for eternity...

The Night Divine

Groping in the Darkness

The players play,

The humdrum of their refrain

Convinced their actions known

While the silvery glow

of an unwelcome Moon

Casts its unsolicited light

across the solemn earth below

Lively shadows dance in 3/4 time

Waltzing nimbly to and fro

and then suddenly turn to go

Away from the night Divine

While the players stumble

Wild unnatural movements

Twisting and turning and bowing

before the Bright illumined Day

A funny thing happened

A funny thing happened on the way to the park

I got lost in the dark

I got lost in the dark

A funny man left to see the world

He got caught up in swirls

He found laughter in whirls

A funny thing happened down deep in the sea

The fish gathered round

Without a sound

Such a fantastic party

Take it from me

A hilarious thing happened to me

The fish found the man and they sang merrily

In the pitch of G

And I found the pub

And joined in the revelry

But alas... I lost my key

Empty Skies

Skies grey and blue, crestfallen faces,

Things that once were, are no more

Tired eyes, empty spaces

Not even the rain dares to enter

Why did it happen? Where do we go?

How can we ever go home?

Anxious thoughts rack my brain

Twisted crosses writhing in pain

When will the night end

A circling swirling fury

Can't escape the foretelling

Of time mixed with future and past

Hope confused with despair

Memories distant and near

Of longingness, of loneliness

Searching the skies

For some sign, for meaning

Reaching in, reaching out

in Desperation
