A Love Story

Romance began

A chance encounter

A happenstance of love

between a woman

and a man

A few written words

was all it took

Struck by love

with just one look

Two souls

hollowed with pain

Not searching

for another

came together

Heartfelt expressions

of love and hope

Release the hold

of an invisible rope

Anguish and emptiness

a forgotten past

Love and

companionship

found at last

Hand in hand

lovers walk

Dinner together

time to talk

Poetry shared

while the music plays

Compatible

in so many ways

Destiny

brought them

together at last

What seemed like forever

happened very fast

A new dawn

A luminescence of light

Darkened horizons

once again shine bright

Bonded hearts

together now beat

Two souls

destined to meet

Paws Around My Heart

Restless kitties dash to and fro,

Mewling as they go

Soon, they're ready to cuddle,

Leaving no room for rebuttal

They gather together,

Furry birds of a feather

Quickly, they fall into slumber,

Sheep just lingering numbers

Sweet kitties hold my heart,

From them, I wish to never part

The Space Between

I miss you in the space between

my heartbeats fed by yesterday’s love

My hopes of you take flight in dreams

as lonely as a crimson dove

Awaken not a sleeping wish

as honesty swims in eventide

A long-known soul, a timeline miss

a promise bled where chances bide

I miss you in the space between

perpetual paths our starlight knew

My hopes of you take flight in dreams

where you tell me, “I miss you, too.”

When the sun drops.

Darkness surrounds my world

But only at night

When the sun drops

Behind the skyline

A shadow of the past is left unfurled

When gleaming shores are fading from my sight

My bleeding heart stops,

Waiting for a sign

Shades of grey disturb my fleeting thoughts

Does something flitter through the unseen scene?

My bleeding heart

Stops waiting for a sign.

Untie life's tangled knots,

Fight the battle still unseen

I tear myself apart

My fragments sink into your fading moonshine

And darkness surrounds my world

As dreams fade out of sight

When the sun drops

Behind the skyline.

Tempest, Thresh

Your teeth bite. Maul at the root of the bone-cord that ties the nape of my neck to the center of my back. Reverberating. Spasm-shock, tumbling down the staircase of my spine. It is earthquake-licked tectonics. I am continents shifting. I am eruption. Spinal-fluid vomit. I am corruption. Porcelain-fanged, fissure-made. Osteo-scaffolding, cracking. You, convulsion-crescendo. Break me down, shattered. I am devoured. I am unknitting. Laceration-itch wounded. I am heartstring, smarting. Fever-craze, deafening. And my bony sutures are unthreading in conniption-fit torrents. And when the edges fray it is skeleton-splintered. Slivers of want, ricocheting from arteries to heart. Calcium needles. Stab and hold. Stab and hold. Pin me down, wayward. Pin me down, unsettled.

Eyes

The window to the soul

Some a never ending hole

Some are an icy blue

Oh what a wonderful hue

Those that are the color of grass

Shine more brilliantly than glass

The orbs of the warmest brown

Could easily flip the most stubborn frown

Write about a song...
Pick a song. Any song. Then play it once, or twice, as many times as you want. After that, you just have to write. Write about how the song makes you feel, a short story or poem inspired by the song, it can be virtually anything.

Without

Deep down, I love you

Even deeper down,

I know you're unhealthy for me,

A parasite latching on,

Draining every bit of life

From my fragile body

Your hand grips mine,

Too tightly, bones threatening

To snap into dust

That same hand,

Holding me back,

Forcing me down,

For all these years

Our fingers entwined,

Binding me for life

No longer, I refuse

To be your trophy,

A tool for you to use

Even though you're a monster,

I forgive you

Even though my heart

Burns with resentment,

Boils with hate,

I forget you

Without you,

I take ahold of my life,

Once again

This time,

I won't let go

And Yet...

There’s something I’ve been meaning to do,

Places I’ve wanted to see,

Friends I’ve longed to visit with,

Dreams I’ve hoped to accomplish

But, of course, it can always wait

Until tomorrow

I haven’t done this yet

I haven’t done that yet

I haven’t talked to them yet

I haven’t dreamt it yet

Yet is merely a word

Barring you from fulfilling the goals

You could’ve accomplished today,

Always postponing them

To the next tomorrow

Eventually, there won’t be

Another tomorrow to look to

So get out there

And do everything you’ve wished

You’re not done

With life yet
