The Blood on Our Hands

Screeches echo down the dark tiled hallways

The sound of metal slicing through skin

The sinister death of a life barely lived

They look at each other in fear

Sliding down the factory halls

They sense it will soon be over

Fear spreads like snow on a winter day

They try to escape

Though they know it’s too late

One by one they drop like flies

Until the factory is silent

What She Left Behind

Your selfish words

Her piercing shout

You let it fall apart

She storms out of the room

While you sit back

Not expecting much

She emerges minutes later

Bags packed

Your eyes fill with dread

You shoot up on to your feet

You try to stop her

As she runs off

Her voice chocked with tears

When she says goodbye

You stand there stunned

Years of memory, laughter and love

Is erased

Now all what's left are her footprints

Soon to be wiped away by the snow

the letter

Crumpled and old but never forgotten

Stained with salty tears and regret

A scar in his history

Seemingly torn with with a knife of evil

Stored away deep in a file cabinet

Pain.

Love.

Loss.

Blame.

If only, if only

If only he could have stopped her

Protected her

Too late.

Monument 14

"Your mother hollers that you're going to miss the bus. She can see it coming down the street. You don't stop and hug her and tell her you love her. You don't thank her for being a good, kind, patient mother. Of course not- you launch yourself down the stairs and make a run for the corner.

Only, if it's the last you'll ever see your mother, you sort of start to wish you'd stopped and did those things. Maybe even missed the bus.

But the bus was barreling down our street so I ran.”

What is Beautiful?

The days pass by like the meals she turn down

Her cheeks are permanently stained

With the tears she's shed

Her stomachs grumbling

She runs her finger across her ribs

She stares at herself in the mirror

She sees an ugly overweight monster

She is blind to the truth

Her head burns

All she wanted was to fit in

To be beautiful

Her parents wonder where they went wrong

They don't know

But

She hears them every night

When they argue

About who's fault it was

Little girls painting on fake faces

To be like everyone else

Magazines discouraging people around the world

Creating impossible standards

When this this is normal

We know something is wrong

With the world we live in

Have you ever wondered...

What is beautiful?

Her Last Breath

Cool icy night

Black sky

Faint stars

Hands steady on the wheel

Till

A ping

The glow of a new message

With one hand left on the wheel

She grabbed the phone

Her finger slides across the lock screen

She begins to type

A honk

Her eyes flit back to the road

It's too late

The two cars collide

Her head hits the dashboard

A red tear of blood slides down her cheek

Her eyes cloud over,

As she breaths her last breath

Her phone glows once more with a last message

Then disappears

Leaving the car pitch black

It makes you think

How fragile human life is
