Some people fear the storms that the gods gave them

Because the lightning illuminates their darkest truths

And the roaring thunder mimics the chaos in their hearts

But some people revel in this divine dance of nature

Because the relentless rain washes away their past

And the wild winds make them feel...invincible

Concept

The girl was made entirely out of literature.

Ink flowed in her veins instead of blood and her heart beat sounded like the flipping pages of a book. If you gazed into her eyes, you could see poetry. If angered, she could raise her arms and summon a fire breathing dragon or a jinn to wreak havoc on your life. She could summon fairies and ancient kings and anything from the beloved stories of the world. Her voice could inspire you, bring you to tears, make you laugh, or make you nostalgic for simpler times.

The doors of the hall burst open and a mass of black shot through the room. After my eyes adjusted, I saw that it was a massive wolf, a beast unlike anything else I’d seen before. He was both majestic and menacing, beautiful and terrifying. His aura radiated with blazing power, the kind of presence that made everything else in the room seem insignificant. The wolf began to growl. It was a guttural growl, sounding like it had come from the earth itself. His eyes darted around the hall restlessly, as if he were looking for someone. I could hear the scattering of footsteps as people moved away from the creature, but I didn’t move. Noticing my stillness, wolf’s gaze met mine and it threw it’s head back, howling. Goosebumps raised on my arms, but I continued to hold my ground, ignoring the gasps of everyone around me. The wolf was suddenly tearing through the room at full speed, heading straight towards me.

Even as I faced a possible impending death, I was intensely aware of the fact that I was alive in this moment. My heartbeat pounded in my ears like drums as my breath heaved my chest up and down. The wolf was now stood at a mere foot away, it’s head leveled with mine. An overwhelming smell of musk filled my nostrils as the wolf gazed at me, it’s breath hot on my face. The beast was so close to me that I could see my reflection in its eyes.

By that moment, people had begun to scream in panic, running around the room. I suddenly fell out of my trance and began to panic as well, backing away from the beast. My classmates managed to grab onto the wolf, looping heavy silver chains around it’s neck to hold it down. The wolf was calm, however, still watching me with those ancient orbs. Then, as if it was the most natural thing in the world, it began to disintegrate, eventually fading away into nothingness.

Royal Twins

The king and queen were delighted when they had twins, a boy and a girl. The two children were loved and cared for most dearly. As they grew up, it became difficult for the kingdom to decide who would be most apt to take the throne. They both commanded respect, but in different ways. The boy was proud, noble, and gallant and he was extremely responsible. The girl was powerful, gifted, and almost feral in nature. She recognized potential in others and helped them to unlock it. The crown, however, was eventually placed on the head of the boy. He was considered the most trustworthy. His actions could be predicted and he was more inclined to listen to his advisers.

This action divided the twins and caused the heart of the girl to freeze into ice. She had wanted to be the queen since she was a child. Her brother lacked her ambition and her power lust. She eventually set out to take the throne for herself.

The power struggle between the two created a storm that reduced the kingdom to dust. In the end, the girl had won. But she had no one to rule over and no one to call her own.

No clue where I’m going with this....

You live your life with a sense of normalcy

Going about your day-to-day business

Not really minding the tediousness of it all

Because you know in the back of your mind

That dark things lurk in the shadows

Dark things, brilliant things, powerful things

And you know that in the face of it all

You. Are. Nothing.

Court of Nightmares (a short story idea)

“What is this place?” the girl asked.

“The court of nightmares,” the man in the mask responded. “Oh don’t look so worried! Nightmares mustn’t be a bad thing, not always. For is it not dreams that show us what we really are?”

Windows

These holes from which one can see the outside world in all of it's chaos are truly horrifying to have around. Not only that, but anyone can look inside your home from the outside! All sense of privacy gone, all sense of security, all sense of normalcy!

What if you were sitting in a room, drinking tea, when you happened to look up and see a grotesque face staring at you from the window. Blood oozing from the eyes and grey skin wrinkled like paper. You scream and enter such a state of panic that it causes a heart attack!

What if you were outside, going for a walk with your child, when you happened to glance into a house and see a group of people holding hands and performing a seance? The image of the white clad folks, with strangely eager faces would scar your child forever.

Drowning

In this sea of molten sapphire

She gasps for breath and fights for the life

That she knows still beats within her

The ocean waits patiently

Anticipating her surrender

Will she fight the current?

Or will she succumb to it's depth?

In this sea of molten sapphire

Note: This is unfinished work and I would really appreciate feedback! Thanks for reading.
