The Virgo Strain

It’s time to turn the clock back, they say!

I’m not like the rest, I don’t want to be a pawn in Father Time’s game.

You happily close your eyes to quietly rest your very tired brain.

Waking up to see more sleep looks great on you in many ways.

An extra hour for me is an unwanted ticket to dreamland for a longer stay.

I close my eyes when I hit the bed and nervously log all of my moods today.

Before I know it I ground my feet on the dream stations floor to await this mental train.

There’s a fifty percent chance I‘ll see my mom for missed time I so wish to gain

Or I’m stuck in this far away hell because I can be at times hateful and vane.

I get that I’m blessed to dream no matter what happens or how much I complain.

Just try to understand what it means to be from the Virgo strain.

I’m unsure if the dreams are an ideal from the past, future maybe other domains.

Waking up to see more sleep looks like all the dreamland anxieties made me more insane.

An Exercise In Honesty
Write an essay (or other-formatted opinion piece) on a topic which you think most people would probably disapprove of you for espousing. Let's test the boundaries of our fellow open minds shall we? Have at it!

I Mean This Whore Heartedly

Slut shaming, it gets under my skin!

Who created the criteria that determines what a slut does and who a slut is?

A woman who owns her sexuality and who is open to new experiences, is threatening to other women and men.

Most women want to be her & most men wish they could have her.

However, the woman who can’t muster up the same confidence, starts to shame her.

Then here comes the man who can’t have her, so quick to cast stones out of anger.

To me these judgements are so juvenile! We are adults, it’s time to get in touch with yourself.

The man who sleeps with a different woman everyday, is seen as some king.

If a woman does that, the world determines she’ll never be worthy of a wedding ring!

It’s our body to use how we like without our actions being deemed as sins.

Romantic paragraph
I know it sounds weird but all you have to do is write a real or fake story about a love story. Here's the twist: it can only be 2-3 sentences. Good luck writers!

Sparrow of sorrow

I could hear her soft voice from her equally as soft lips, her love is mine and mine is hers. I hear the yell of a sparrow bring me back to reality as I put her down into her new eternal resting place.

Was it a car or a cat I saw?

Anna,

Was it a car or a cat I saw?

Taco cat!

Taco cat?

Don’t nod.

Dammit I’m mad!

Bob?

Madam, I’m Adam!

Now I see bees, I won!

Huh?

Challenge
Masks or Walls or Both?
While I was thinking about it, how do you protect yourself? Build a wall or wear a mask? Or perhaps both? Poetry only, in any form.

Masquerade

Everyday I attend a dance

Everyone must wear a mask

If you want to take a chance

If you're ever up to the task

Don't try to remove your mask

If you do they all will stare

They'll approach you and ask

"Leaving it all out to air?"

Behind my mask I am secure

No one questions, no one tries

Leave it on and I am pure

Protected and safe behind my lies

Vacation

People and places.

Mood and moments.

Time is money.

A break from routine is what can be termed as a vacation.

Traffic

The liars are vultures

picking at my flesh and muscle

as I lie here in the road

smashed by a tractor trailer,

the shock of heartbreak,

brakes screeching

like screaming rats;

the impact sent me reeling,

not knowing up from down,

right from left,

sent me spinning across the highway

straight into oncoming traffic.

the fruit of trees of Eden that you could eat, but shouldn't..
beside the tree of knowledge and the tree life, there must have been other trees, (or bushes, or perranial shrubs), that were acceptable, but, still not good for Adam abd Eve to eat. write about them, and explain.

The Garden

Of all the trees please freely eat

Enjoy the fruit they give

They were created to sustain your life

So you may always live

There are thousands of trees for you

Eat from all you choose

But there is one that you should not touch

The moment you do, you lose

So man planted an orchard and drank

Another and ate of its food

Another and inhaled the aroma sweet

And like his Father said this is good.

He planted yet another seed

This time inside his wife

And enjoyed the children born to him

and learned he too, could bring forth life

So man enjoyed his time in Paradise

Existing in a utopian state

Not knowing that a single bite

Would one day seal his fate.

But the one who ate of the tree before

Chose to share his newfound knowledge

For misery does love company

For that we must acknowledge

You see knowledge gives birth to pride

So man thought he could do it better

But everything he did create

Just shackled him in fetters.

He built his own prison

With the trees he did fell

And as knowledge increased more and more

He traded Paradise for hell.

He invented seeds to make him happy

To take away his pain

And seeds to calm his children

And seeds to keep him sane

Man forgot all about the garden

Where true life really grows

And now he’s searching for meaning

Because he’s reaping what he sowed.

Bottomless Bucket

Trying to not undervalue your achievements,

But when you see someone else's success,

You feel pressed for no reason,

Insecure in your own progression,

Like a bucket with no bottom,

Water goes through it,

Like an endless stream of intrusive emotions,

The comparison is like setting fire to your dreams,

By placing them into someone else's standards,

It's tiring,

Your stomach muscles are tightening,

Because your cortisol is rising,

All because of comparison,

Your story may take more time,

But it's your journey and life,

Don't be the bucket that can't carry water,

With that said,

Focus on using your emotions to go further,

Not live in the shadow of someone else's character.

Folding words linguistically

As I sit here on this hilltop watching life unfold before me, I realize I hate origami.
