I love to read and write. It is so ingrained in me, that I often find myself narrating everyday situations in my head!

A Girl

Worked since the ripe old age of 14

On her shoulders the family did lean

From bottom of totem to top she went

A poor girl starts feeling legit

But nothing lasts forever

Catch a break? Never!

An injury she did suffer

Normally, she'd just get tougher

This time, it put her down

So far that the girl drown

Watch her family drown too

Because they can't walk in her shoes

Their shoulders not tall enough

Their backs not strong or tough

So the family too, will drown

The girl watches with a frown

If only life wasn't so harsh

She'd put on her boots and march

Carry them all, as only she could

A poor young girl from the hood

How Can You Tell if a Christian is Really a Christian?
People all over the world claim to be Christians, but maybe don't live like they claim you should live, and claim certain people can't go to Heaven. How can you tell the real from the false?

Not our place to judge

Reading through the posts, I see a lot of talk about homosexuality and God. Yes, the Bible says that it's an abomination. But NOWHERE does it say that God will reject you for it. It's a sin, yes. So is cursing, coveting, overeating, smoking, sex outside of marriage, and believe it or not fellas, when you pull out and "spill your seed upon the ground". Many many things are a sin. That's why Jesus came, to wash those sins away. Being gay doesn't mean there is a seat reserved in hell for you. And anyone preaching hell and damnation to you needs to go back and read his Bible again!

As for telling a true christian, we humans can't. It's not our place. Only God knows what is in someone's heart.

Every time I close my eyes

they are there

Surrounding me in my bed

they are there

Their mouths are open

in a silent scream

I wish it were

all a dream

But they are there

Their hands reach for me

as though they have a need

Something they want or

some kind of deed

They are there

My eyes open all the way

Hoping the people

will just go away

But when I close them again

they're all still there

Reaching for me

with a blank stare

They are there

What do they want

what do they need

Why do they think

they can get it from me

They are there

What will happen

if they touch me

Why can't they

just let me be

When you close

your eyes tonight

cover your head

hold your pillow tight

You need to know

and be aware

When the sun goes down

they are there

Two Sentence Horror Stories
I've been seeing a lot of these and I think that they're cool, so the prompt is simple: write me a horror story using only two sentences. Scariest/best wins! :)

Demonology

I awoke with the demon's hand on my forehead while he showed me images of death and destruction. He kept repeating demonology, don't forget, demonology, while in my head the earth was exploding, nuclear bombs were falling, children were dying, planes were on fire as they fell from the sky.

Questions

1. Do you believe in the Big Bang theory? If not, disregard the following questions.

2. How do you explain the multitude of elements? Do you believe they all evolved from hydrogen and helium? Where did the hydrogen and helium come from?

3. How do you apply the first law of thermodynamics or the law of conservation of mass to the Big Bang theory since both state that matter cannot be created or destroyed.

Our local weather station has a radar they call live viper. I call it vile viper. It never has anything good to report!

Your father... Any format

My Father

I wish i could say, that all my memories were good

He was there when i was young, just like a father should

We'd go fishing, play cards and games

He thought it was funny when my sister and I called each other names

I was a real daddy's girl, went everywhere he went

For those memories, I wouldn't trade a cent

But as I got older, he started to change

He didn't care anymore, we became estranged

Today we don't speak, I have nothing to say

But what I wouldn't give, for all of those yesterdays!

Create it, then name it
Create a new supernatural being and give it a name. Describe it in detail: physical appearance, personality, supernatural powers, what makes your character tick? no minimum or maximum words

I’ll go first

My supernatural being is a female named Rokee. She was a witch who was burnt at the stake during the Salem witch trials. Rokee was summoned from beyond the grave by several practicing witches 200 years later. She is 5'6" tall with red hair and green eyes. Her physical death left burn scars over half of her body. Upon being summoned, she was endowed with the powers of a shapeshifter, and often shifts to a siren so she can seduce men into doing her bidding. A humble woman before being condemned to death, she is now corrupt and wants all men to pay for her suffering. Sometimes she shifts into inanimate objects and hides nearby so she can discover a person's worst fear.

Why?
What makes you keep on writing? If you’re a writer, then you’ve probably dreamt about winning some award or at least increasing your audience and having more people interested in what you have to write, but we don't all get that. Many of us write for ourselves and face rejection regularly from people who just can’t see the story the way we can. If you’ve dealt with tough criticism or rejection or doubt, what has motivated you to keep writing against it all? Let’s talk, keep it real and honest. The advice I find most genuine and reassuring wins. And while I have your attention, I’ve recently started a newsletter for writers that I hope to discuss everything about the writing community within. It’s FREE! You’ll just need your Email to receive it and be able to respond to it. Together we’ll tackle every aspect of the writing process and share tips and goals and progress and samples, maybe even have a few contests every now and then. If you’re interested, I explain my main goals and hopes for this community in my first post, and if you like it, just hit the subscribe button at the top to the right! Here’s the link (just copy-paste it): https://fatimaaladdin.substack.com/p/-writing-community- (This newsletter is for anyone who’s interested in writing, it in no way affects the results of this challenge, you don’t even have to participate to join!)

Courage

I realized I was a writer when I was a senior in high school. I'm 43 now, and am just now taking it seriously. I could never find the courage to even try because I was afraid of rejection. It wasn't until last year that I realized I needed to be writing for me. While we all love to hear positive feedback on our creations, that should not be your focus. Your writing is a part of you, who you are. You should be writing for you, and you alone. Who cares what other people think? Find your courage!
