The Last Straw

I had a few, they were taken away.

I was left with one, one final straw to be torn, cut, burned and melted.

Shaped into an abomination, losing its function.

No longer does it have two holes, instead it has many.

No longer capable of transfering drink to a mouth.

No longer capable of being used.

But no matter how damaged my last straw becomes, I will not lose it to you.

Words

If I stop using my 'I love you's to fill the voids,

How long will it take you to realize we've broken apart?

cliche

i do not want to

love someone

who will

take my

breath away.

i want to

be able to breathe

on my own;

i do not wish to

suffocate.

I am almost there, but not.

I am almost there,

but not.

I ask for patience,

but I am not.

I hate,

but really don't.

I love,

but change my mind.

I do what is wrong,

but like it.

I do what is right,

but am ashamed of it.

I receive,

but do not give.

I hurt,

but do not help.

I change,

but come back quick.

I am almost there,

but not.

I am confused in the mind,

but can think straight through.

I am the opposite of what I should be,

but do not try.

I am thriving,

but dead.

I am a broken soul,

ready to be fixed.

I am almost there,

but not.

A Collection of Holiday Haiku

Under the warm glow

Of red and green Christmas lights,

I lean into you

Powdery snow falls

Blanketing the earth in white

Gorgeous winter day

On Christmas morning

Sounds the pitter-patter of

Small feet dashing through

Ribbons and glitter

Adorning the gifts under

The dressed Christmas tree

Reindeer prance along

While Santa and his elves work

Giving joy to all

Happy holidays

To one and all, a season

Of joy, mirth, and cheer

Favorite Things

Much More I Could Express

Being able to walk, talk and breath,

and able to read Macbeth.

To coin a phrase or line for a book,

regardless the time it took.

To hear the edge of the ocean's roar,

quietly watching an eagle soar.

To dance or sing when the mood feels right,

matters not if it is day or night.

To have my health is always a plus,

since death is not a thought, nor gives me a rush.

Close friends are my mainstay,

without; life as I know it, would fade away.

Blessed to have loved and been loved,

for in my soul, they shall remain beloved.

My life, now, is centered around words

that may sound droll and absurd.

To know pure joy, alas, is but fingertips away.

I keep hoping with each new dawn, I will find a way.

Listen to the rhythm of the rain that will fall,

I walk between the raindrops, waiting on heaven's call.

No Matter What

Throughout the many long years,

I've experienced blissful times of prosperity

Tough, harrowing times that tested my mettle

Through it all,

I've survived and lived to tell the tale

I've faced failures and disappointments aplenty

And built myself back up,

Stronger than before

I've plummeted into the pit of despair

That is a loved one's addiction

Step by step, I crawled back up

I've lost dear ones,

Felt soul-crushing sorrow along with their departure

Even so, I'm still here,

Living all I can for them

I've burned into nothing

And risen from the smoking ashes

Like a phoenix,

Time and time again

No matter the adversity,

There is always a way

To survive the ordeal called life

And brighter days are patiently waiting on the horizon,

Waiting to raise your spirits high,

When all you want to do is cry

No matter the universe's cruel tests,

There are always people who adore you,

Ready to carry you through the days of gray

Even when you believe you're alone,

That no other could possibly understand,

There are those going through the same

Who are ready to lend a helping hand

There will always be hardship

It's just the way of the world

But

No matter what,

There are people who care,

Family and friends who will help you through it

And in the end, you'll survive,

As you do

Over and over again

Wanderlust

I’m often stuck daydreaming

my nose stuffed inside a book

My expression is mostly glazed over

not in the present at all

I think of myself as a dreamer

because I can’t focus on anything

Except my dreams

my wandering inside my mind

I’ve heard it’s called wanderlust

because I can’t seem to come back to reality

Lilith 1

The first one was a star.

A shining, dazzling star that shook the city when it struck the ground.

She landed in the middle of the fountain in the square, her strong back arching as she cracked the pavement. This was not the first strange thing to happen in the city of Lilith, but it was by far the strangest.

The girl that fell from the sky was beautiful. Hair dark and glossy, body lithe with alabaster skin.

The girl was also dead.

A knife was protruded into her chest, right where her heart was. Blood so red it was black spun around her in crimson waves, bubbling under the fountain. Her silver eyes were wide with horror, but unseeing. Her mouth was agape in surprise, her lips a bloodless blue.

It began to rain. Raining big, huge, wet drops that splattered onto the ground. Curious parasols poked out of the townhouses lining the square, tottering to the scarlett fountain. The parasols dropped to the soaked ground when they saw the girl lying lifelessly in the water.

People screamed.

Screamed because the girl was dead. And no one ever died in the city of Lilith.

The girl was gone before the end of the night, thrown out of the gates and burned.

But the sun never rose again.

Growing Up

Every one has a worst fear. Mine used to be the dark. Then sharks. Next scorpions. Finally, spiders. Or so I thought. But now I’m realizing that one fear stands out. Something I dread, hate, and want to avoid. But I can’t. It is in every single 100th of a second every single day. My worst fear, is gowing up. I want to stay young for ever. I don’t want to move on. But I have to. I guess, since it’s unavoidable, I might as well enjoy the path, right? It just gets... hard.
