Corrine

I wanted her to give me an over under,

a colder shoulder or run from cover,

a "no, we're nowhere", or a fun-times lover,

I needed no more of an in between,

is it that that Corrine had seen?

All this talk of depth,

and the lines that find this light wind from our breath

across the table where we break bread to disable the threat

of this ever faint thread of a disconnect,

Had Corrine needed anything else said?

Time only wanted to show our pair,

that it can't just be a start and in end spun with care,

there's a middle, there's a body, and hers was there,

but it's that lack of detail that dug and dared,

stared me down until I found Corrine was nowhere.

Here we go (No Direction)

Here we go and there we went,

on one Hell of a cocaine binge, we got live,

we got bent, we survived, I digressed

into this state of ever wake, never woke,

and the younger still just don't know

what it is, these lines I wrote,

but they'll get trill, they'll get stoked,

and it is one day I so hope,

for us all to dabble in the rabble rousel,

for these twisted nights we come out counseled,

on what it is to know perspective,

it is not something in some book you've read,

it's a position we've all felt,

this feeling of starting off with "here we go",

only to realize too slow,

that you had no direction, no story to tell.

Cross Roads

And at the inersection of introspection and dissention

lies the faintest mention of direction,

this is what holds my suspension,

A product of an addiction to the living,

and some superstition of a hidden mission.

I've seem smitten of the vision

to seek my potential at full aprehension.

All before full disconnection,

should I jump and not touch the clouds,

should I not stand tall on the highest mounds,

should I never leave the pull from this town,

I will know it was the crossroads

bearing me down.

Was that a Question? Begin your entry with a question. Perhaps it's one you know the answer to, and we too will know by the end of our reading. Perhaps it's something you barely fathom an answer for, and will ponder via the pen. You can write anything you want, so long as it begins with a question. Fiction of non-fiction, poetry or Prose.

We’re all Adults

Who farted?

I swear I just started to speak,

and I heard a feint squeak.

Was it you in the back?

Who made a shout with your crack?

I had a very serious statement to make,

and someone's butt rumbled an earthquake.

I lost my train of thought, but it's not all your fault,

just please own up, we're all adults.

I promise I won't make it such a big deal,

if whoever farted puts in end their squeals.

Deaf and Simplistic

Towards the horizon I've been

pointing my sails and praying on winds for guidence,

I know I might look adviceless,

I forgot about writing

and lost my eyelids to lightlessness again.

Stuck in the subtle complexities

of crumbling rubble and wreckage debris

that comfortably huddle themselves next to me.

A blanket that may seem mangy,

yet still its love humbles me strangely.

These ne'er do well limericks killed off the rhythm,

and if you can't hold a rhyme,

where's the beauty in living?

And I know some lines fall deaf and simplistic,

that being said, it's those that I sink or I swim with.

I tend to hit my roll

a moment past when my brain hits the throws,

and searches for a cliff to flip over,

bright and white just like Dover.

It's either that or a plain straight drop to the shoreline,

but I'm a man who holds rhymes, I won't suffer a bored mind.

’Fore I Come

And we were kings of things or so it seems,

the dreams we schemed glowed and gleamed,

the fame and fortune, rubies and rings,

the songs of conquer we all would sing

were merely images inside my mind,

as I sat in silence in slow decline,

but intertwined with words in rhyme,

the fire, desire, the success I'll find.

We were Gods in our thoughts,

or at least in our hearts,

we fought for the parts to build the creation,

so tired of the mire from the sea of stagnation,

we found freedom in a cell of our own imagination,

living high on the kite, let's keep up the wind,

and see the future as a now and again.

But you, you all have left,

or stepped out I guess,

because now I feel as if I am the only one.

I'll be there soon, I'll call 'fore I come,

the wall's written none,

I'll fall towards the sun 'fore I come.

And we are ghosts of souls that climbed from holes,

and rose through battles to roads to palaces,

toasts with chalices, rolled through talented.

And the books shall marvel in our glories,

tell tales of our stories to make sure they're never done,

I'm coming home to join the fight, I'll call 'fore I come.

I am Who I am

I am only everything I've been,

I am an athelete,

I am a scholar,

I am waiting for you at the summit,

I am worth the bother,

I am everything that you wanted,

because I am everything I need to be,

I am your best option,

because I am everything you see,

I am a hot boy,

I am a long shot,

I am alone,

I am a man who has everything he's got,

I am a clone if the original is unknown,

I am on my own path,

and I am inviting everyone to join,

I am cool, calm, and neurotic,

and on special occaisions psychotic,

I am in control,

so don't worry I got it,

I am poetic with less than four star words,

I am a master at the running stream,

I go with the flow if you don't know what I mean,

I am going to make it,

I will not forget you,

I am something you have never witnessed,

I am survival,

I am the fittest.

First Date

You're in deep with the secrets that you keep,

heard you hold strong to your beliefs.

Well it seems you believe it's coming,

because I can see you running.

I saw you down in a dark alley,

hands to God for a midnight rally,

ears to the ground, but couldn't hear Him speak,

is He not listening?

As for me, I've got all I need,

I'm a superstar can't you tell?

Never done that wrong, never been so well.

As for my future, I used to ask a fortune teller to spell,

but all she ever wrote was Hell.

And she wouldn't let me see the crystal ball,

for fear I couldn't take that fall.

So I threw out the cards,

washed my hands of their lines,

and set out to settle my mind.

That's where we met,

at a dinner of regrets,

you hadn't unleashed your love yet,

and I had lost mine out to chance.

That first night I caught you alone,

said you never made a moan,

the bed was where our clothes were thrown,

but all you wanted to do was dance.

I'd never seen a girl so beautiful,

as when she first finds her romance.

The Five Minute Sonnet

Where I was when I saw it all,

it seemed the same to me,

that is if angle in is angle out,

at least to some degree.

From where it stood behind my steps,

I'd find no better sight,

than the big picture from a solid breath,

and words that fell so kind.

I'd say I'd go back in the beat of a heart,

but I don't say it in truth,

I'm good to stay surrounded with orange haze,

and happily wait for you.

I'm free to believe in all of my faiths,

I'm free from what most people do.

No Lies

Said hold me now,

Said hold me now for a while there,

I am all but scared,

In a forest overgrown with my own thoughts.

So hold me now,

I keep praying for rain,

but the sun still shines,

I should be fine.

I am more than fine, I am better off

when you keep me close,

when you keep me tied to that cross.

So hold me now,

I am all but lost.

Said just for me,

will you let us have this dance?

I know you've thrown out my one chance,

but just for me,

so I can feel what it's like again.

It's been so long,

It's been so long since I've even held a hand,

did you forget?

Did you forget that I needed love too?

From closer than some distant friend,

or some girl that I once knew.

Did you forget it had been so long,

since you said, "Just for me"?

Every siren that has called me out,

told me time would wait for me,

well my watch must have broke,

or time has froze,

because the days move endlessly.

And my only hope is that they said no lies to me.

Said missed you dear,

to a picture on my phone, and a poem in my notebook,

for life pulls like gravity,

and steals like a crook.

Said missed you dear,

to a hole in my heart,

full in my head to not drip out words in distain.

Said missed you dear,

to the voice of reason in my brain.

The ghost of my last kiss

has joined the ranks of the atmosphere,

at least I said I missed you dear.

Said just to take deep breaths,

played the game and lost too many times,

am I a fool or addicted,

addicted to the feeling of being on the verge

of finding the perfect adjective,

only to settle for any other word?

Said just to take deep breaths,

and let the pen do its job,

said just to take deep breaths,

but when I do I only cough.

Every siren that has called me out,

told me time would wait for me,

well my watch must have broke,

or time has froze,

because the days move endlessly.

And my only hope is that they said no lies to me.

Said, "Trust me boy",

said, "Trust this all works out",

and that this is just not a phase,

maybe patience pays,

or maybe waiting wastes away

the mornings and the days,

and leaves only lonely nights.

Said, "Trust me boy",

it will be all right.

Said what's the use?

Said what's the use in trying,

while the good Christians go flying by,

riding God to the promised land,

while I contemplate what it's like to live so grand?

Said what's the use in pretending

our bodies are not good at mending,

or that it even mattered?

Or that I even had it?

Said what's the use in being so dramatic?

Every siren that has called me out,

told me time would wait for me,

well my watch must have broke,

or time has froze,

because the days move endlessly.

And my only hope is that they said no lies to me.
